I was only 2 years old when Woodstock happened but it would have been terrific to be able to attend and see all those musicians and bands perform. And can you imagine all the other events going on at the same time? That must have been one hell of an outrageous and glorious party.

Hopefully someone from Fluther here attended Woodstock or knows someone who did and can share some great stories.

I only wish I was alive during the 60s and 70s, but I think the greatest music event back then was Watkins Glen 7/28/73 with The Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, and The Band!!! I have been to every Bonnaroo (except the first) and Rothbury 08 and try to imagine what Woodstock would have been like when Im dancing around with 50,000 other people who dig many of the same things I do. Im sure the vibe was much more powerful with so much raw emotion (PEACE and LOVE).

Yup, that was the 60’s. Drove there with a guy I worked with, in my VW bug. Luckily, we parked at the bottom of the hill in a pasture, just off the dirt road that went up over the hill to the show area. Great show! Hundreds of thousands of people having a great time. We left at the end of the show once the roads were re-opened. I drove out with four people on the inside and three people hanging on the back, standing on the back bumper. Two of the people in the car had minor injures, twisted ankles from the muddy conditions. Drove that way for, it seemed like hours, at just over a walking speed.

Does that count?

I have been to Woodstock, Illinois, many times. Groundhog Day was filmed there.

Missed the rock concert, which was held at White Lake, NY, in 1969. Part of me was there in spirit – I was 20 years old at the time – but all I got do to was see the movie and buy the album.

YESS!! I have been waiting for 40 years for someone to ask me that. We were living in Cedar Lake, Indiana. My older sister was 17 and just got married (oops). She and her new husband decided to drive down there on the second day, and took me with them. The fence was down already and no one was taking money. We were just kind of wandering around, checking out the crowd. I don’t remember much of it because my sis or her husband kept covering my eyes (ha-ha). I think they smoked a couple joints, had a few beers, and then we left.

No, but I sure as hell remember the horrendous traffic in Saugerties during Woodstock ‘94.

Yeah I can only agree that I really wish I could have gone.

I’ve been to Allgood festival (very similar bandwise to bonnaroo except less mainstream and in west virginia). this last year phil lesh, dark star orchestra, michael franti, keller williams, wood brothers, mike gordon from phish. very sick weekend.

If you want to experience woodstock go to a summer festival. i can imagine it is pretty similar. not as awesome but still a huge crowd of people just enjoying themselves, all the drugs you could want, and just being carefree.

I would have been there, but I couldn’t get away from the ship in VietNam!

~Besides, I heard that if you really were there you wouldn’t remember anyway
