Who is the lieutenant governor of New York?

Asked by colog (73points) January 26th, 2009

Ten months ago, Lieutenant Governor David Paterson was elevated to the governor’s office after Eliot Spitzer resigned. Who took his spot?

The official website still lists Paterson as lieutenant governor.

Does that mean there is actually no lieutenant governor at the moment? Who is next in line to succeed Governor Paterson?

According to wikipedia, there is no lieutenant governor currently, but Senate President/Majority Leader Malcolm Smith is performing the duties of lieutenant governor, following the succession of David Paterson to the governorship on March 17, 2008.

Isn’t this a simple google it type question that should’ve been moderated. Just curious as to how this thing ticks. No offense.
