Any good post appocalyptic media to recomend ?

Asked by Staalesen (2722points) January 30th, 2009

I am a big fan of PA mmovies, books and games….. I think that the setting just apeals to the dreamer/survivor in me, but recently I feel that I have run out of new things to read or watch…

I have seen all the standard stuff, like Mad Max, waterworld, Fallout etc… unto the point that I am now watchin the old russian made Stalker move….
Any suggestions what to read/watch/play next ?

A lot of people hated it, but I loved The Postman.

I enjoyed I am Legend and it really wasn’t what I was expecting. It concentrated a lot more than most films in the genre on the psychological effects of the world, and an individual, losing so much.

If you haven’t seen it, and that sounds up your alley, give it a look.

Survivors—a British TV series from about 1978. A superflu takes out 99% of the British Isles, and the survivors have to figure out what to do.

Well, the two first suggestions I have seen over and over :p
I think I can say that I have seen about all of modern mainstream PA as well…

Read The Stand by Stephen King. It’s in my top five and I’m also a huge fan of PA media.

There’s the Change series by S.M. Stirling and Lucifer’s Hammer by Larry Niven.
I loves me some post-apocalypse stories!

And Kunstler’s World Made By Hand, and for non-fiction, World Without Us by Alan Weisman.
