What do i have to look for in a new cell phone with camera so the image in the pictures are as clear as possible?

i thought it was the MegaPixels, but it is not, so what is it? currently i have the sony ericsson w580i, and the image is very very clear, so im afraid of change the phone and get one that maybe it’ll not be as clear as this one, what is what i have to look for then?

I’d recommend any camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and a decent megapixel size. I think the Sony phones have them mostly.

If clarity is what you’re really after get an actual digital camera. There are a ton of sub-$200 digital point-and-shoots that go up to 12 megapixels, have actual glass lenses and optics and the processor chips to capture vibrant colors and shoot in low light. The same things you would seek out in abducital camera are what you would seek in a phone cam, and as you mentioned, resolution isn’t everything…

hi cheeb, long time! ;)

^^that garbled word was supposed to be “digital”...

Well, you’d be best served by reading reviews from professional sites/blogs for your research. For my money, the newer Sony Ericsson phones have good cameras-nice lenses (Zeiss), and good resolutions and chips…again research what others say about using the features, zoom (especially if there is Optical zoom), and Xenon Flash is always a plus. Samsungs are also nice-had a 2.0 that had better image quality than my Canon point-and-shoot (4 Mpx) at the time…

Just had a quick scan for newer Ericssons and this one seems to be getting good reviews for its camera functionality.

Wow whackyrusty! That is a nice cell phone, expensive but very nice! Probably I would have to sell my cell AND digital camera to get one of those! Which I would… Thanks!

I’m pretty happy with the iPhone’s camera, although it has no zoom capability

Phones with good cameras are far more expensive then the same quality camera alone. One I looked at was double the price. I went out and bought the camera alone.
