How much yearly income does a single, retired person with no major debts need to live comfortably in CA?

@nmguy; There are too many variables to pull a figure out of a hat. Be more specific about your needs and likes.

Define comfort and where do you want to live in California? It makes a HUGE difference! It won’t cost a whole lot in Taft or Wasco, but LA or San Francisco, maybe more.

I agree with the others. Too many variables. For the price of a studio apartment in SF you could get a three bedroom home with pool out in the valley.
Just depends on where and your lifestyle.
