You absolutely don’t have to. But if you want to show your appreciation for the fast delivery or whatever, you can. Either way is okay, but neither option is mandatory.

Did the delivery person lose the bag? If so, no tip.

Was the bag lost under circumstances the deliveryperson couldn’t possibly control? Then yeah, tip.

No.
Do you tip the UPS man when he delivers your package?

Yes I would. He didn’t lose your bag; he is providing a service to you. One could argue that if the airline hadn’t lost the bag it wouldn’t need to be delivered, so he is really providng the service to them, but I believe in erring on the side of tipping unless the person receiving the tip is providing poor service.

I would, especially if you feel he brought it to you in a timely manner.

Alrighty. My dirty clothes finally arrived and I gave her three bucks (the only small bills I had after all day yesterday at the airport). Thanks for the advice. She was with a private delivery company, not the airline, and very friendly, so that made the difference for me.

I would pass a tip for the delivery person to deliver to the airline: don’t lose my friggin bag next time!

Just kidding. Oh, and this is handled. Good choice!

Tipping is always discretionary.

It’s of course not the delivery guy’s fault the bags were lost :/

I realize the moment has passed to answer…..but as someone who once worked for tips (waitress).....that few bucks likely means a heckuva lot more to the person receiving the tip than to you….

Seems like a nice thing to do. The few dollars will probably be more appreciated by him than they would be by you, if you kept them.

S/he works for the airline and most airline personnel are union members and get a living wage and benefits. If it is an independat contractor, I would tip for exceptional service.

skfinkel strikes again with kindness and good sense. ^
