Does anyone have a Good Protoss vs Zerg Stategy?

Asked by aeschylus (665points) February 22nd, 2009

I keep playing this acquaintance of mine at Starcraft. When we go 1 on 1, he usually plays Zerg. We usually play on a map where the natural expansion is fairly defensible down a ramp in a kind of cove on low ground, where the main is high ground. He usually fast expands and puts down 4 sunkens. How can I break him and win?

I usually try and cover the map in cannons and support them with air units. (If it’s unlimited resources)

Asmonet Plays zerg and I play Protoss.

Does he Rush you or play defense?

If he doesn’t rush you in the beginning, and you want to rush him I will usually make 9 gathers and make them gather and then drop a pylon and then drop a barracks then one more and then produce zealots. in very little time you will have a full platoon.

@btko : I do that as well.

We got so bored we started just playing random and then against the computer. The computer always cheats always.

He generally doesn’t rush unless he sees an opportunity. He usually plays defensively, getting some sunkens at the early expo, then a few lings, and then camps until mutas. Perhaps forge-first is a good built to use to guard the natural, making a sort of wall with pylon/gateway/forge, with a cannon or two behind and then expand. Then macro and go for corsair-reaver, or something like that.

What do you guys think?

WHY WASN’T I HERE. GOD FUCKING DAMN IT.

You’re fucked. ZERG OWNS YOU WHORE.

Okay but really, the only way you can win, and it pains me to post this where my brother will see is that you HAVE TO rush his ass early with 12–16 Zealots. And go straight for the drones and the Hive. Otherwise, he will rape you. He will rape you hard. And he will rape you good.

King is right, the computer always fucking cheats. It’s nice sometimes when you’re playing with pc team members, cause they know where the enemy is and you just have to watch where they go…on the other hand. The enemy knows where your ass is.

Please don’t answer if you aren’t completely superior to the computer. If you haven’t heard of Bisu, Jangbi, Savior, and Flash, and don’t have at least a C rating on ICcup, please don’t bother answering here. If you haven’t heard of these things, look them up, you will be glad you did. Also, take a look at gomtv.net for some awesome VODs with comment.

The opponent I’m having trouble with is a very good player with a C rating on ICcup who plays all the races with solid macro fundamentals, but who has a micro deficiency. His multitasking, however, is excellent. I need a way to keep him from entering the middle game without rushing him. 12–16 zealots is not a “rush;” it takes a 3-gate BO with an early expansion, and even if you cut probes on top of that it takes at least 7 minutes to get that many zealots.

Any thoughts?

How bout next time you ask for more in depth answers first instead of having to clarify your position halfway through? As for the word rush, it’s a verb and a noun. Both of our uses work. You didn’t specify the level of gameplay you were at or thas your opponent was so I answered as simply as possible. Your response has turned me off to even trying to help you further.

No one needs the attitude in that first paragraph.
