McCann's Steel Cut Oatmeal, Quick & Easy (Cooks in 5 minutes) vs. McCann's Steel Cut Oatmeal?

Asked by robhaya (999points) October 26th, 2007

I currently have been buying McCann’s Steel Cut Oatmeal, Quick & Easy from Amazon.com and when I went to reorder they are out of stock. My question is, is there any difference between the preparation of the Quick & Easy vs. the McCann’s traditional Steek Cut Oatmeal?

I prepare mine by, boiling 4 cups of water and 1 cup of steel coats oats and soaking them overnight. Next morning I reheat for couple of minutes on the stove and I’m done. Will this work if I buy the traditional steel cut oats that are not qucik and easy?

Thanks

I use regular Steel Cut from the Health food store. I simmer the same proportions (give or take) on stove top on v. low flame, stir a few times, for about 20 minutes..Then I refrigerate and reheat as needed briefly in MV.(You could certainly reheat in saucepan if you prefer.) I get three or four days of easy breakfasts.

What kind of processing is done to Q & E to make them not slow and hard?

I don’t know why that as needed got Textiled.

I just turned my back on 4 days’ worth of oatmeal that was simmering..Burnt the bottom of pot and am about to mop up the huge spillage that brimmed over pot’‘s lip!
