Stupid Nube question here: How do you comment on other people's answers?

Asked by Kevisaurus (292points) March 25th, 2009

Seriously I have no clue and I do feel soooo Nube-ish for not knowing how to do such a simple task.

Just reply with the @ then the person’s screen name. Like this, @Kevisaurus.

@essieness shouldn’t there be a button to push which would make this more simplistic?

essieness's avatar

@kevisaurus that would be a question for the mods. A live preview should pop up most of the time on which case you can just hit enter when you get I the right name.

Does it really need to be easier? It isn’t that hard, is it…?

Kevisaurus's avatar

@essieness It seems so unnecessary. They need to write some code or something for it. Lots of other Q/A sites, you just enter a comment and you’re good to go regarding the answer.

I have explained this in the FAQ

I am copy – pasting that answer here but be sure to check out the FAQ to learn about other stuff.

Q. How do I respond to someone in a thread?

Simply use the @ symbol followed by their username. This automatically provides a link to their last quip on the thread. But remember, for the @ linking to work, the person must have written on the thread already. When you type in ”@” (without the quotations) in a quip, you should see a list of people you can respond to. The list is composed of every username that has written on the thread so far. You can either choose from the list, or type in the username on your own.

@Kevisaurus :: Threaded comments suck when most questions only have a few answers. This Works

This is not wis.dm and I don’t think Ben and Andrew want to copy it.

@PnL Now I finally have heard of the FAQ, LOL.

Kevisaurus's avatar

@MacBean the comment process here seems too choppy & confusing.

jlm11f's avatar

@Kevisaurus – Don’t start a new quip if your previous quip is still editable (and you can edit them for 10 min). Just add an “Edit:” note so people know you have added something new to your quip.

@PnL Has Kev’s account been deleted?

YARNLADY's avatar

@JellyB : Already? Sheesh

@Kev. I soooo know what you mean. Miss ya buddy. Go bucs!

@Kevisaurus – Hey, Kevin. Have you tried the chatroom yet? If you’re upset and need to discuss something with the moderators it’s best to go to the chatroom. A heated exchange of opinions is totally okay.

jlm11f's avatar

@JellyB – Kevin deleted his account of his own accord. Mods had nothing to do with it.

YARNLADY's avatar

@PnL Thanks for the update, I wondered about it.

Zen's avatar

@mattbrowne Hey buddy – you here now?

mattbrowne's avatar

@PnL – I think Kevin was more concerned with the 3 questions per 6 hours limit. On wis.dm he loved to ask a lot more.

jlm11f's avatar

@mattbrowne – Ah. Too bad he didn’t decide to give it a try for a bit longer. He might have started liking the system.

YARNLADY's avatar

@mattbrowne @PnL He’s still here, he’s just using a different identity.

mattbrowne's avatar

@Yarnlady – Yes, I know and I also know his new nick.

Just give my neutral opinion on the views of others.
