I thought the movie Brokeback Mountain was at least as good as the book, if not better (it’s a great book too!.

Yes. I thought the move “Twilight” was much better than the book, but that isn’t really saying a lot. I read the first three books in that series, and even though I thought the writing was mediocre, I could see where the Twilight-mania was coming from. The movie was better than the book, in my opinion, because you didn’t have to sit through page after page after page of teenage first-love angst. Still, I doubt I’ll ever watch the movie again.

but i do want a hot vampire boyfriend now

Not yet. As far as a movie that was close to being as good as the book? The Hunt for Red October.

I liked the Godfather movie better than the book. It was a little more focused.

I thought the movie Into the Wild was just as good as the book.

The Notebook. I watched the movie first. I’m a sucker for romances and I did enjoy The Notebook so I picked up the book expecting it to be a treat. I was sorely disappointed it. The writing was awful, for one and my standards are not even that high for these sort of books (beach books). It was also just incredibly cheesy. I have never seen so many cliches. The characters are flat and undeveloped and the dialogue is pretty awful. It was very boring and the pacing was too slow.

The movie was definitely better than the book. The changes in the movie made it feel more realistic and the dead characters from the book were brought to life.

@classyfied: Oh I liked the book sooo much better! I thought the movie was cliche! But I read the book first, so…

I know I’ve answered this question before… but it’s not on the thread that @MacBean linked to. Hmmm…

Girl, Interrupted for sure. The movie was so dynamic, and the book was a bit bland, though it was a non-fiction account.
