How do they always find the old questions ?

Asked by iwamoto (5277points) April 6th, 2009

once in a while, i get an “activity for you” from a question from over a year ago, and it turns out that a newcomer has found that question and gives love advice or something else totally too late…

so how do they do it ? searching ? related questions ? i still find it amazing…

I often click on the “Siblings” questions that are on the side of the page, and they are usually old. Sometimes I click on one of the topics in the cloud, and sometimes I do a search. I have also found questions at the bottom of the page that fluther provides to me to answer.

When you first join you automatically have 5 or so questions in your “Questions for You.”

edit: I was going from memory there, but I just tried making a new account. These were automatically in my “Questions for You.” New user joins, they get old questions, they answer them.

The siblings and the search.

Lies… EmpressPixie sends out a mass mailer to as many people as she can find detailing old questions that have expired subject matter so that others can continue the threads and make you wonder where they came from.

Lurve you EP ;)

@Dr_C: Hey! I only did that once…

Hah. I’ve done that a few times.

I found it through the “siblings” bar on the side, which pays no attention to time or date.

I click on interesting sibling questions pretty often. Deal with it.

Since there is a limit on how many questions a jelly can ask, I run out of new questions that I’m interested in pretty quick.
