General Question

Are you decisive, or indecisive?

Asked by squirbel (4297points) April 18th, 2009

Do you find that making decisions is easy?

For the record – I’m one of those very decisive types of people. Making decisions is very simple – weigh the options and choose one. In the instances where all options are grey, I just pick one.

Which are you?

Decisive. I usually make a list of options and pick the one the sucks the least.

Yes, wait, no.

Sometimes I drive my wife crazy because I like to do a lot of research and weigh the pros and cons before I do things.

I have decided that I’m very decisive. I know what I want, what should be done, when it should be done, & then I do it. It’s really very simple.

Option C: Undecided.

I am not quick to make a choice or a decision, but when I do it usually comes on like a whim, and then there is no stopping me. I’m not sure either of these words are entirely accurate.

AlfredaPrufrock's avatar

I would say I’m deliberative. I have no problem at arriving at the decision, but I account for as much fall-out and sub-issues before moving forward with action.

tinyfaery's avatar

@NaturalMineralWater I think that puts you in the indecisive category.

Darwin's avatar

I am decisive. I don’t have the patience to sit there looking at alternatives. If I can discern no value difference between the two options, I simply pick one.

Next question!

Well, I don’t know. I’m kind if decisive. But sometimes I’m not. I’m not really sure. Maybe I am…

I guess I’m indecisive.

Mamradpivo's avatar

I’m certain that I can sometimes be quite indecisive.

hug_of_war's avatar

Very, very indecisive. For me having options feels good and I feel closed in once I’ve made a choice. I try to keep as many options open for as long as possible, which isn’t always the best decision.

veronasgirl's avatar

I used to be a very decisive person….I think…But seriously, something changed and now I can’t make a decision to save my life.

aviona's avatar

Very indecisive.

I think it’s because my parents smoked pot while I was in the womb.

When I’m pissed I make very rash usually stupid decisions, though. :/

augustlan's avatar

I don’t have serious trouble making a decision, but the follow-through is a problem. :(

AlfredaPrufrock's avatar

@augustlan, the list thing is helping me. I eventually get tired of seeing the same thing on the list, and just do it. Not quickly, but deliberatively. Crossed off three things today.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

I am pretty decisive and once I’ve made a decision I try very hard no to do the ‘should have could have would have’ spiel to myself and when it comes to relationships, especially, once I decide it’s over, it’s over..

I want to answer this question but I’m not sure if my answer in flutherworthy. Hmm. I can’t decide.

What to do.

filmfann's avatar

I am decisive, but I constantly reevaluate my choices. Does that make sense?

aprilsimnel's avatar

@augustlan – That’s my problem as well.

3or4monsters's avatar

Well, indecisive would indicate that I WANT to make a decision, but can’t make up my mind. Ambivalent means I don’t give a shit enough to make a choice either way. I am a leaf on the wind of apathy.

Meh….

tiffyandthewall's avatar

absolutely indecisive.

wundayatta's avatar

I don’t know.

aprilsimnel's avatar

Well, I… OK, maybe…

Can I get back to you on this? Later?

Shuttle128's avatar

Relatively indecisive. I need to fix that.

essieness's avatar

I’d say I’m pretty decisive. Not that it’s always a good thing.

jonsblond's avatar

I am very indecisive. I blame it on my father. He would take me shopping for clothes and when I decided on what I wanted, he would ask “Are you sure? That’s what you want? Positive? Want to look around more? Well, ok. You’re positive? You don’t want the black one? This is your last chance. You are completely positive, that’s what you want?”.

It’s his fault. It really is!

Darwin's avatar

@jonsblond – Evidently it is genetic, then.
