Does anyone have experience with Speech Level Singing?

Asked by kevbo (25672points) December 23rd, 2007

I’m wondering if it’s worth it to pursue or just a marketing ploy. Any other method you would recommend?

Ultimately, the type of voice-coaching which is right for you may differ greatly from what works for others. SLS certainly seems to boast a wide number of celebrity practitioners, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best choice.

I would start by considering what vocal style you want to sing with, and then talking to local voice coaches, or perhaps the leaders of local vocal groups from highschools, large churches, universities, or private choirs. They should be able to offer some great insights.

I don’t, personally, but my best friend has been trained in this method & she says it’s amazing. Apparently, it’s the way most of the pop stars, famous people are being trained to sing now.
That said, I agree with ronamo. It depends on what kind of singing you want to do. Choir or classical singing is a very different technique than pop singing, musical theatre singing or rock singing.
