How do I see how much memory my computer has left?

Asked by zachattack59 (7points) July 28th, 2009

I have an inspiron 6000 running on Windows XP and it’s running extremely slow. I’ve deleted some unused programs to free up space, but where can I see how much memory I have left?

you mean how much hard drvie space you have left. not memory
memory is RAM

start->my computer->right click “C:”->properties

go to my computer and right click your main drive, or secondary drive, and select properties.

also, programs running could slow down your machine.

@running4ever5 Sorry, I’m not much of a computer guru, but now that you mention it, I think it’s hard drive space.

@patg7590 Alright, thanks! It worked. Much easier than I thought.

To recover some extra space, install a free software called CCleaner, this will empty your browser caches and temp files.

If you want to see this information in real-time (so you can see how RAM and hard drive space are used as you open/close and install/remove software), you might look at Rainmeter, a free “dashboard” for your computer that sits on your desktop.

Have you defragged? Might need your registry cleaned! Otherwise just click on the ‘computer’ button and it should show you how much drive space you have left. I have Vista so I don’t know if it’s the same!
