Where can I buy this discontinued Apple product?

Asked by probably (7points) August 10th, 2009

I’ve looked all over the web for Apple’s MA473G/A 24”” iMac VESA Mount Adapter Kit. It’s for an older white iMac (from 2006). They make the mount adapter kit for current iMacs, but the mount for my older 2.16Mhz iMac has been discontinued.

Does anyone know a place where I could buy this? I ordered from one online retailer and they later emailed me that they did not have the product. The other I found charged $70 for shipping in addition to its $30 retail price. That’s more than I’m willing to pay.

Thanks for any direction you can give. I’d love to be able to mount this iMac on the wall. I don’t think I can use a standard VESA mount without this adapter.

I found one dubious hit here: http://www.summagoods.com/product/138/apple_inc_ma473g_a_apple_vesa_mount_adapter_kit,72851D_3.html

Good luck… Apple hardware is but a fraction of the entire PC market and doesn’t drive much aftermarket demand… meaning it can indeed be difficult to find specific items for outmoded products.

Otherwise, I suggest posting a Wanted ad on Craigslist or keeping a search running on eBay.

I wonder if a machine shop/hardware store/etc. could fabricate something for pretty cheap…or maybe try modifying a close match?

robmandu, you’re right about that retailer being dubious. They’re the one charging outrageous shipping charges. Doing a running search on eBay just might work.
