Where can I find a list of the # of first grade public school teachers?

From the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

There are “about 1.5 million are elementary school teachers” not counting 170,000 kindergarten teachers.

If we assume there are about the same number of teachers for each grade, this means there are about 250,000 first grade teachers.

But elementary school can cover anywhere from first to eigth grade, depending on the school district and the BLS does not have any set parameters for when middle school begins and ends on their website. The only qualifacations they use are whether or not a teacher teaches at an accreditted public middle or elementary school. Therefore, I can’t deduct from their data the number of students per grade.

“170,000 are kindergarten teachers.”

The best bet would be to assume that the number would be about the same for 1st grade teachers unless someone can come up with a better number.

And class sizes fluctuate a bit between grades. Kindergarten tends to have smaller class sizes compared to the fifth grade.
