Whats the best satellite TV provider in your opinion?

Asked by FrankHebusSmith (4319points) August 18th, 2009

My next apartment comes with free internet, so to save money I’m going to use satellite TV (all the cable providers around here only do bundling, so the cheapest I can get is $60, with internet that I won’t need). But I know next to nothing about satellite. So what is everyones input? Who’s the best provider? What are your experiences with providers?

I liked my service with DirecTV. I enjoyed the extended hockey coverage.

I too have been very happy with DirecTV.

I’m going to get an apartment, do I need a satellite dish for DirecTV? (I’m under the impression some of the satellite providers don’t need one, somehow).

@westy81585 You need a satellite dish for DirecTV.

@The_Compassionate_Heretic How big is the dish? Could it be connected simply to the wall outside my apt window? (I’m planning on inquiring with my future landlord to the specifics, as I’m sure I’m not the first/only tenant who wants/has satellite, but I’m trying to figure out what I’ll need)

@westy81585 Most landlords will be leery of having tenants install dishes on their building if it involves drilling holes. There are other options such as tripods or mounting brackets.
