Is there a free cell phone reverse lookup?

Asked by jackm (6212points) October 22nd, 2009

I keep getting calls from a number and they don’t talk on the other line. Is there a way to do a reverse lookup on cellphone numbers? I searched google and they all seem to cost money. (and are probably a scam) I just wanted to know if any of you out there know of a free legitimate service.

Cell phone numbers are supposed to be private, so that won’t be easy or free. One thing you can do is Google the number that’s calling you and you can go from there, as there are lists like “Who Called Me” and people will comment on calls they receive from a certain number. I do this when a strange number comes up and a lot of times it turns out to be one of those scam calls, like the car warranty thing.

I used the link that @ posted with my own cell phone number. it said it is a cell phone, listed the city and said it is unpublished. That link might be helpful to you if you don’t need more information than that.

I like the site that @MissAnthrope speaks of also. I’ve used it when I had 800 numbers calling me to try to sell something. I gained enough information from that site on one caller to let them know I knew exactly who they were and where they were located. Once I told them that, the calls stopped.. finally!!
