Anyone here familiar with FLIP Video Camcorders?

Asked by judochop (16119points) October 29th, 2009

I have a FLIP. I also have a SONY VAIO Laptop. I can dump videos from my Flip on to my laptop however I cannot open them to edit them so I am stuck with whatever I capture. Tonight I visited the Flip website and downloaded the latest software update which is called Flipshare. This is supposed to let me edit my videos but I can’t! Is it because Sony blocks these applications in some secret form or am I just not getting it? All you need to do is drag your video on to the flipshare software and when I do this it goes to the little “x” over the file letting me know that I am doing something wrong, but what??? Errrrrr!

Sony just builds the hardware. They don’t block anything. What is your OS?

Quicktime Pro works pretty well with Flip video. Try that.

@IchtheosaurusRex i still think it’s outrageous that people pay for quicktime pro

@patg7590 , there’s probably something in the open source arena that works as well or better. The open source community, however, needs to get over its snobbery and find ways to promote use of its applications by ordinary bumpkins.
