Do you watch the Space Shuttle launches?

Asked by steelerspilot (180points) November 13th, 2009 from iPhone

Do you ever watch the Shuttle launches. I live in Florida and I always have a great view. I think the shuttle launches are a great scientific marvel. I don’t even watch it on TV. Do you watch it in person or on tv?

No as it is such a waste of billions of dollars that can be spent on earth.

@chyna What does peoples’ lives have to do with NASA?

I like watching them on TV. I live on the other side of the country but I would love to watch one in person.

@chyna The thing is, it is for science. The Money is used for a purpose. Peoples’ lives are more important, yes, but so is science. Everything we use today was designed and made by science.

It is money they could spend on health care, feeding the homeless etc.

We were in Cocoa beach in August. We waited up till 1:00 am but the launch was scrubbed. I would have loved to have seen it.

I don’t watch it now. When I was a kid in elementary school they always hauled a TV on a big cart out in the hallway and we would gather around and watch the shuttle lift off. It was exciting. I recall looking forward to it. I also remember when the Challenger crashed how my teacher explained it to us and cried. I was in the 4th grade. It was a really sad day.

Weird. I was just, literally like 10 minutes ago, saying one of the things I most want to do in my life is go see a shuttle launching. I think they’re amazing, and so interesting, and it’s one of those things where you can even look at a picture of it and just think WTF, HOWWWW.
