How can I improve my focus when it comes to homework?

Asked by pterodactylover808 (144points) November 29th, 2009

I seriously try to do my homework but I always wind up on the internet like now….... haha but I’m actually finished now. I Care about my grades even though my attention to my studies wouldn’t show it… what should I do!?

Cold turkey the internet and get your work done.

Do your homework in a room that doesn’t have a computer or any other device that connects to the internet. If you can find a room which is gadget free, then that is optimal. If you need to use some resource/study guide that is on your computer, print it out. The few cents you lose on printing the paper will be worth it with all the time you save. Finish homework in other room, and then reward yourself with some internet time.

Me too. Somehow I’ve made it to senior year of college with a B average but I’m actually really worried about this semester. Get good habits now so you’ll do well in college!!

Not sure what grade you’re in, but if your school has a library that you can use after school, use it.

My college’s library has those enclosed desks so nobody can bother you. I take my mp3 player and my work no laptop and become anti-social until it’s done.

One time that I actually got work done was sophomore year when I had a new boyfriend. He came over to study and was being incredibly sensual, but wouldn’t kiss me until I had finished everything. He took my study guide and demanded that I explain everything to him. If he thought I didn’t know enough about something he’d kiss me on the cheek then demand I go research. He held strong to this, and I was actually really prepared for the exam the next day. I hated it, but it totally worked.
And the kiss he finally gave me after was quite memorable:)

Too bad this isn’t an option for my upcoming finals.

Practice self-discipline. No internet until your work is done. If you have to, ask your parents to help you enforce it, or go somewhere you can’t get on the Internet.

My daughter uses the kitchen table because there is no internet connection there even for her laptop, and because I tend to be right there so she can ask questions when she needs help.

Library.

Leave the phone and computer at home.

Another vote for library.

If you can, get your homework done before you go home.

Yes, go to the library or stay after school and work on it. Maybe create a study group or find a friend who focuses on Homework so you wont goof off.

If you can’t go cold turkey, set yourself a schedule. One hour of homework, then 15 minutes on the internet. Set a timer and stick to the schedule.
