What the hell is the title of this movie ?

Asked by iwamoto (5277points) December 4th, 2009

My girlfriend gave me the description of a movie, usually i can figure them out, but this one…

So it’s about a guy who is involved in some kind of project, then his mind gets erased, and he gets a box full of usefull stuff from a guy form the future who was involved in the same project. the box contains stuff to help him, for example, he’s in a burning building but has a key for the door in the box. apparently there’s also a girl who can modify the weather (or something similar) in a white room.

We don’t have a lot to go on, sounds like a mix between Total recall and Minority Report with a dash of The Butterfly Effect, hints and even a full title would be greatly appreciated !

The first part sounds a bit similar to Primer. Could that be it?

This is a short story by Philip K. Dick! Both the movie and the original story are called Paycheck

Paycheck was a pretty silly movie, but I enjoyed it just the same.

I was thinking “that’s kind of like Total Recall…” until i got to the end of your thing. Sounds cool though

Definitely Paycheck. Good news: Uma Thurman. Bad news: Ben Affleck.

@Iclamae

Actually, tha’ts also a Philip K. Dick story originally; We Can Remember it for You Wholesale

@Foolaholic, that reminds me of Neil Gaiman’s We Can Get Them For You Wholesale. It’s a very good short story, but then again, Neil is one of the best at writing good short stories.

filmfann's avatar

@Foolaholic We Can Remember It For You Wholesale was the short story on which Total Recall was based.
Paycheck was based on the short story of the same name.

@filmfann
That’s what I said…
