Has anyone had success with the PayPal cashback program?

Asked by buckyboy28 (4961points) December 6th, 2009

A couple of months ago I got an e-mail from PayPal where you buy $20 of merchandise and you get $20 credited back into your PayPal account. Sounds fishy, I know, but I confirmed the legitimacy with PayPal.

My question is, has anyone ever done a cashback program with PayPal, and how long did it take to get the money credited to your account?

Just a personal opinion: I think PayPal has gotten skeevy since eBay bought it.

Never heard of the Paypal cashback thingo before. But yes it sounds fishy, very fishy indeed. :P

@pdworkin – I’ve always found Paypal to be dodgey. Think many people would agree.

Never had a problem with Paypal, it feels alot safer than handing out your credit card number left and right. Although i heard they got some bad PR for raising cut-between charges without informing customers, and then claiming it was “beneficial” for the customer as a reason for not informing when they were caught, which obviously wasn’t a very clever move. Bad PR or not i’ve never had a problem with their service.

I haven’t used the cashback.

It appears that this is an ongoing promotion, not from PayPal, but from select merchants for using PayPal when shopping online rather than using a credit card. This blog post is older, but in looking at the merchants they list, it’s feasible that this is still an ongoing promotion.

been ripped off way to many times through paypal over the years there customer protection policy has way to many holes in it if you actually read it or do like i did and find out through experience which is why I now use amazon.com better deals and you can still sell your own junk on there much safer and reliable
