Do you love the awards given on Fluther? Think they are cool!

Asked by Cotton101 (3439points) December 16th, 2009

Been on Fluther only a few days, and I’m an Exhibitionist, Sardine, Clownfish, Jelly Asker-Rembrandt, Deckhand, and a Tadpole, just to mention a few!

Which award describes your personality the best?

Mine would be a Clownfish. Don’t know much about a Clownfish, but, I love to have fun and laugh. Would think that Clownfish is about having fun!

Which award least describes your personality?

Mine would be a Sardine! Yikes, those things stink! (checking to see if I stink, nope!) The smell from Sardines would make a “frieght train take a rock road!”

BTW, anyone here like the taste of Sardines?

I think the rewards system is waaay cooler than other sites that use levels. I mean, when you get an award, its like you know that you’ve received a badge you have really deserved..and I think its totally cool that you even know how many times you’ve earned it. Just makes this site more fun! (Not as fun as answering and asking though!)

I would like to know the requirements for those awards without explanation. I got the Feeding Frenzy in that category. Don’t know why.
Suppose it’s a Fluther secret, lol.
And no Cotton, I don’t like the taste of Sardines.

@Zen_Again, man of many words! lol

Thanks!

I just read an answer in another question where a long time member made a remark on how most members are not here for the awards.
Neither are most of us, but Flutherers have to understand that this is still a novelty for us. Everything here is new and interesting. Give us a little time to get used to all these things.

@Confuscious, ummmm..that member would taking life too seriously C, this is a fun thing on the site. Really think it add favor to the site. My motto, be happy and have fun!

Confuscious's avatar

@Cotton101 I agree, Cotton. It is actually fun and I’m enjoying it very much. You get a little thrill when you see you’ve added another award. But I’ve never been a point hunter and I won’t become one now to get awards. I’m here for the people and to enjoy myself.
I know your motto Cotton. And don’t you dare to ever change it! ;-)

Funny…I don’t even notice them. I have tried, but they don’t stay on my radar. Just part of my personality: cutsie doesn’t register.

Yes, the awards were a great addition to the awesomeness that is Fluther.

I would say that the First-mate award describes my personality the best, because I like to take the helm at things and gain the experience to become a leader.

Least would be Wayne-Greet-zky, because I don’t like hockey. ~

No, sardines are disgusting.

I haven’t paid the awards much attention to be honest. I am aware that I have a few but they’re not important to me. Lurve is way more important to me.

Well, the post was done, “tongue in cheek!” All the “little things” done on the site, adds up to a much bigger picture of the site. The message under your log in, awards, lurve, strict rules on spelling, etc., add to the site as a whole. Awards are a fun thing..not a “biggee,” but again, think a lot of thought went into the make-up of the site. Being new here, having lots of fun!

I hate the rewards system! I hate that people pay attention to it. I hate that people think it means anything at all. I hate competition on a site like this. I hate the effect the rewards system has had on fluther. I hate that people talk about it or spend any energy on it at all. I hate that this system will probably start causing problems between people or between users and the management. I hate that it will probably cause people to leave. I hate it because it is absolutely unnecessary.

Oh. Did I say I hated the rewards system?

@daloon, It almost seems that you hate the rewards system! I almost agree. Almost. And I love your avatar. Are those your personal cheeks?

Confuscious's avatar

@Cotton101 That’s why I’ve been saying since the beginning that this site is unique. It is so different to other Q&A sites. It has a charm to it. I think much love went into designing it. Love it here.

Cotton101's avatar

@Confuscious, could not agree more…don’t really understand why people take things SO SERIOUSLY…never thought of the rewards as a competition. Don’t even think about the site being competitive. I just come here to converse with friends and have fun and let the rest of it take care of itself.

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaa and i’ve not had a drop to drink or “nuttin” else! lol

I hate Sardines. I’m not keen on the awards, but I’m not a fishy person.

Not big on the rewards at all – if they come, they come. But I do lurve my lurve!

I can see why you newbies are getting a kick out of discovering them and the other features that are new to you, though. Chacun a son gout!

@daloon Dang. I was digging the idea!!

HumourMe's avatar

I think the awards are pretty neat (do people say neat anymore?) anyway I would describe myself as a sardine- the unsalty alternative to an anchovy.

Dr_C's avatar

I like the award system… It seems I have every award except for Privateer, Admiral and Old timer… And it’s been fun finding out what I got them for.

jonsblond's avatar

We have only had the awards for a short time now and I don’t mind them at all. I think they are kind of cute and I don’t consider them as competition at all. There are some that I have no idea how I got and others that I’m still trying to figure out how to get. I like a good mystery. ;)

Jelly Friend best describes me I guess. I was a big supporter of upping the limit for our Fluther.

thriftymaid's avatar

I don’t really get them.

SABOTEUR's avatar

I have to admit.
I get a kick every time I receive an award notification.

Especially when I achieve an award I haven’t gotten before.
Doesn’t take much to make me happy, huh?

JustPlainBarb's avatar

It’s cute Cotton… I just don’t understand what the ones at the bottom of the list mean exactly. The descriptions are kind of vague.

Cotton101's avatar

@JustPlainBarb ditto my friend…seems like on this site, you have to be able to read between the lines…personally, prefer the direct approach!

Cotton101's avatar

@JustPlainBarb glad we don’t have a “stiff collar!” Loll..
