Does anyone know of a fix for the "vista update loop problem"?

during this year my daughter’s laptop developed a continuous “updating” loop problem. after spending a long time updating, it would re-boot then start over again. iv’e searched mocrosoft forums and tried the suggestion of an independent source which didnt work.the update was early in the year and affected many people but theres not a murmer from mocrosoft, help please:)

I don’t know. My Vista Home Premium still updates when it wants to and shuts down whether I give permission or not. It can happen at any time. I don’t know of a fix.

I haven’t encountered it with Vista. Once when I had Windows 2000 an update caused a loop of logging off/restart and I called Microsoft. They spent two hours on the phone with me and finally got it fixed. They didn’t charge because the update caused the problem.

If you still have the install discs you can do a repair or clean install.

Make sure you backup your data first!
