How do I move to music?

Asked by smile1 (493points) January 28th, 2010

I always feel awkward around people who are moving to music, because I dont know how to move to it.
Say, the music would be on, and my friends start moving to it, and makign a few dance moves, i dont know how to move with them!!

What videos are there for me to learn? Ive tried jsut relaxing and listenign to the beat, but I have a hard time.

Dancing can get very complicated very quickly. The complication is completely unnecessary. Don’t go completely nuts, but rather try random things that match the tempo of the song that is playing and you’ll eventually find something that works.

Well, you could watch the Seinfeld episode about Elaine dancing. The thing to remember there is not to move like she does!

@janbb I’ve been told, many times, that I dance like Elaine.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Watch the Fresh Prince and learn the Carlton dance – Best Dance… Ever

Start by bobbing your head along with the beat. Bob straight up and down, then you can bob it to the side (or alternating sides if you feel daring!) and eventually, you’ll be able to get your legs to move, too. Your whole body will then be bouncing to the rhythm. Then, hopefully your hips will follow and you’ll be doing something that resembles dancing. Practice in the mirror, just like a pre-teen girl. Watch how your friends do it and try to imitate, but don’t try too hard- just be natural. Look in the mirror to see what you like to do.

Are you old enough to drink? I’ve always found that a beer or two helps me loosen up on the dance floor.

Watch the dance scene from Napoleon Dynamite until you memorize it. Then do that to the beat of the music.

I’ve recomended this before, this guy know how to dance lika a pro..

first i do it like this
i put a look on my face like i smell some piss
bounce to the beat till it starts to hurt
then i dust all the smirk off me shirt
dip to the ground as i catch the bass
then i wipe all the sweat off me face
pop back up then i start to slide
popping my collar, as i glide
then i break the thang down and do the bird
dust my self off like i just stole third

I’ll try to find an example
