Do mainstream Christians believe in the "End Times/Doomsday" stuff on this website?

Asked by Alchemist (68points) February 8th, 2010

I found a website: http://www.cuttingedge.org/, the nutty ramblings of end times freaks. It’s scary. We might have nightmares.

Do Fluther Christians consider this stuff legit?

I am a Christian, and this stuff is bullshit.

No, they are nut jobs and it is perfectly okay to point and laugh.

That’s speculation and conspiracy theories. This article was written by a Christian and it defies this. I doubt many of them actually hold this crap valid. How could one live that way?

what’s a mainstream christian?

@Simone_De_Beauvoir Well, we don’t have that creepy smile, for one.

Speaking as a mainstream atheist who is married to a mainstream Christian I’d have to say no. Those are just fanatical nutcase ravings.

Ask Kirk Cameron.~

Considering all the other things Christians believe in, I wouldn’t be surprised.

@Simone_De_Beauvoir For once (believe me, it’s rare) I agree w/ @Simone_De_Beauvoir .. I have no idea what a “mainstream” Christian is. Have you any concept of the vastness (and ambiguous… ness) of this generalization?

The protestant and catholic stuff.

I guess mainstream would mean not so extreme that you stop thinking logically. Or, to further my definition, not so religious that you actually think every single word in the bible is exactly God’s words. But, I can’t speak for the OP.

@NaturalMineralWater _For once (believe me, it’s rare) I agree w/ Simone De Beauvoir; is that generally or on religious issues?

Depending on what you mean by “mainstream” I would say, probably not. To JLeslie, every word in the Bible is from God, hence why it is called “God’s word”. I personally believe that the world will come to and end because this world is only our temporary home. I do not however believe in the rapture simply because it is not biblical. I do believe in the ending described in Revelations. Where Jesus comes back and people who have a relationship with Him go to be with God and people who do not suffer from eternal separation from God.

@kittymr92 Every word? It was not even written in English, it has been translated, things are always lost in translation, it is an impossibility.

I am a Christian too, and this stuff is total bullshit.
