How do I clear "other" in my iphone's memory?

I bought something on Itunes on my iphone and it won’t download. I think the problem is that I don’t have enough free space on my phone for it to download. I’ve removed all my music and photos, but but my free space stays the same. It says I have 1.63 GB of “other” which I can’t seem to get rid of. Someone told me it’s from interrupting a sync. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

It’s often the text messages and bookmarks, etc. that go in “Other”.

yeah, it could also be information that you put on the phone, like calendar, contacts and things like that
