Has anyone ever seen the CIA thread unredacted [including the thread contributors]?

Asked by anartist (14808points) April 11th, 2010

As it stands it’s sort of a one-liner, while the frizzer hilarity does not stop. If anyone has seen it, was it as funny over time? Does it exist anywhere unmodified?

There were some pretty funny quips on there, but they were removed as they were posted so even the best of them did not last very long!

One of the perks of being a mod is seeing the CIA thread in all its glory. It. Is. Awesome. :D

I don’t name names.

If a Fluther “Hall of Fame” of sorts ever evolves somehow for best questions ever, I’d like to see that one in there with all the answers opened up for everyone to see. I was a frequent contributor to that thread and it did make for some really entertaining times here in Jelly land. =)

If you saw it, we’d have to kill you.

@SuperMouse It sounds sort of like a performance art piece.
@dverhey but maybe the thrill would be worth it

I never saw what was so funny about [Removed by order of the DHS]. People just kept saying the same thing over and over. Something like, ”Removed by Moderators

I don’t get it. People keep talking about it, but it had to be the most boring question ever.

People posted real comments to it, and sometimes they stayed up for a couple of days, sometimes just a few hours or minutes. It was a challenge to try to get a whole exchange of wisecracks going before it vaporized. Sometimes just one out of a subthread would stay up for a while, absurdly lacking context, and then it would be gone. It was like a cat-and-mouse game, the mice trying to get as much playing in as possible before the cat struck again. I thought it was hilarious while it lasted. It looks pretty dull now, though, sort of like having your whole wall of graffiti art painted over in brown.

@wundayatta That’s only if people really just put in the [removed by agencies unknown] by themselves, but if people really said funny things r really said funny things and Bendrew or Bendrewim removed them as an EVIL joke you missed the real-time fun. I’m afraid it was a had-to-be-there kind of thing.

@Jeruba—yes—whitewashed or browned out reduced to one of the descriptions of the white awards

People didn’t put in the ‘removed’ notice themselves (or if they did, as a joke, it was removed). You can tell the difference by seeing if the ‘Great Answer’ line is still there. If a post has been removed for real, you can’t GA it.

There’s a CIA thread?

@jeruba “It was like a cat-and-mouse game, the mice trying to get as much playing in as possible before the cat struck again.” Perfect description.

wundayatta's avatar

I never saw it when anything was on it. So I refuse to believe there were any jokes or cats or mice at all!

chyna's avatar

@wundayatta I saw it when there were postings on it and posted a few myself. Some were quite funny, including my own. :)

Boy, do I feel like a newbie! Someone should be welcoming me here. I should ask questions like, “What is NSFW” and “why only three questions?” and “how come my lurve isn’t going up” and “am I pregnant?”

Well? Am I?

Fernspider's avatar

Yeah, I buzzed out hardcore when I found that thread… all vaporised and everything… made me question posting anything on this site for awhile!

* looks both ways with shifty eyes *

@wundayatta Welcome to Fluther!

@janbb, LMAO!

You are one of my favourtie Jellies, just felt you needed to know!

janbb's avatar

@Rachienz Thanks! It’s probably mid-morning for you and your woolly friends but it’s getting awfully late here in the real world!

Fernspider's avatar

Don’t talk about my boyfriend like that… oh wait, you mean sheep… that’s alright then.

Time is: 4:12 pm and I am about to head home from work :) Night night real world, I will think of you while I enjoy my late afternoon and early evening.

janbb's avatar

And I will think of you in my dreams. :-)

what does NSFW mean?

chyna's avatar

Not Safe For Work. Don’t get caught reading this at work as it might get you fired for having sexual content.

Val123's avatar

NSFW means The CIA Is Watching. They just screwed up their letters.

Ludy's avatar

the CIA as in “The CIA” ?

Val123's avatar

@Ludy Actually, they’re really talking about The Central Intelligence Agency.

Ludy's avatar

yeah that’s what i meant, now i feel uncomfortable of writing anything here, like watched :/

Val123's avatar

@Ludy Easy to get around. Just write in vpfrt (Hint, move your home keys one space to the right….see. The CIA will NEVER break the code.)
