What does dreaming of washing hair mean?

Asked by frolix (167points) May 18th, 2010

In general, I could not recall what my dream was when waking up. This morning however, I remembered the detail of my dream. Overall, the dream made me happy, but the one part that felt a bit odd is the part where I was washing my hair, a long black healthy hair while in reality mine is medium length and brown.
Does anyone have any idea on dream interpretation of washing hair?

You’re going to meet a rich handsome fella and live happily ever after.

Dreams have no particular meaning, except that which occurs to you, and you alone. No one else has the capacity to interpret your dreams, although many people believe, incorrectly, and rather narcissistically, that they can.

“I’m Gonna Wash that Man Right Outta My Hair.” Mary Martin in “South Pacific.”

The original Mary Martin on YouTube has been taken down due to copyright issues.

Here is Reba McEntire.
She does a pretty good job, in spite of the country twang.

On the stage, traditionally the singer washes her hair as she sings.

Hair washing, like spiders and falling off a cliff, are symbolic and have a deep meaning, rooted in fear and trepidation; it can only mean one thing – that you’ll soon be [Redacted]

I found another YouTube taken from the original recording and played on 60 year old equipment. It will give you a good idea of how Mary Martin sounded. And you can see her with the really short hair cut. The scene was electrifying.

@zenele: Odd. It just worked again for me. Try using the YouTube search engine; enter Mary Martin South Pacific.

Got it now – thanks. That record has scratches.

Yeah, You Tube was scratchy 60 years ago.

@zenele: You expected it to sound like an orchestra playing in your living room?

@gailcalled Why do we always answer a kvestion mit another kvestion?

But of course not – though there are new Beatles songs – with a couple of ‘em being dead – so anything is possible in the studio.

Probably just means you find long black hair attractive.

Maybe you shouldn’t have had that licorice with angel hair pasta.

deni's avatar

you probably thought of your hair at some point before you fell asleep and so you dreamt about something having to do with hair. it means nothing.

gailcalled's avatar

@zenele: So, why not? (Having the Coles singing together is just plain spooky.)

@pdworkin; So, I dangled a participle? I knew that sentence looked odd.

dpworkin's avatar

I’ve got yer dangling participle right here.

I think it means you wish you had long, black hair.
Or maybe you have a certain culture where that type of hair is more commonly worn?
And you wish that you were more in-tune with your culture?
It could mean many things.

Dreams are just your sunconscious puking while you’re asleep. Or masturbating. Depending on your sense of morals.

You’re still using that greasy kid stuff?

You are self-conscious about how your hair looks and it’s cleanliness.
