Rush Limbaugh says Obama deliberately trashed the US Economy as payback for slavery. Is Rush Right?

Asked by ETpro (34605points) July 8th, 2010

Rush says Obama’s a rampant racist who deliberately sunk the US economy to make Whites pay slavery reparations.. Truth—or projection of his own racism? And if it’s true, how did Obama arrange to do it before he was even elected president?

LOL.

Yeah, right! Rush Limbaugh is just entertainment and, really, nothing else.

dpworkin's avatar

He is meant to be an entertainer, but I don’t find his blatant racism amusing.

Cruiser's avatar

Of course RL is right he is always right, you already know that!! Bow to the mighty RUSH! How else do you think Obama raised 800 mil for his Pres campaign?? He promise 10 fold payback on any campaign donation in reparations payments. He told me his grand plan himself when he called me while campaigning for Senator! :D

Drug addicts say all kinds of outlandish shit.

And there’s sure no lack of drama groupies in the media. lololol

/epic facepalm

Well, as all rational, intelligent people know, the economy was pretty thoroughly trashed before Obama took office, so if there was any intentional trashing, it was on Bush-43’s watch.

One thing I have heard increasingly often if that the Far Right is doing everything they can to hinder our recovery so that voters will get disgruntled, kick the Democrats out of power, and establish a Republican regime. That seems more plausible to me.

@Cruiser
‘Oh brother’ was a generalizaton…not aimed at your humorous reply. ;-)

I wonder when even dyed in the wool dittoheads perform @jerv‘s epic facepalm in the wake of their master’s craziness.

tabbycat's avatar

Wow! How screwy can you be?

Arisztid's avatar

I believe Rush is racist but, more than that, he is an entertainer. If it paid to not be racist he would switch his stance in a heartbeat.

Sadly some people believe his drivel… that is the problem.

Ron_C's avatar

Even idiots want to have a voice, Limbaugh is their voice.

jerv's avatar

Yes, the right to free speech s a double-edged sword.

syz's avatar

Rush is never right. He’s also not “right”, not right in the head, that is.

Blackberry's avatar

Lmfao…............That is way out in left field.

ubersiren's avatar

How could this possibly be correct in any way? Rush is like Shirley Phelps meets Howard Stern. He feeds on people’s reactions (and occasionally newborn babies) to his off the wall nonsense.

LuckyGuy's avatar

He’s whacked. The Dow was in the 7000’s and falling when Obama came into office. It is 10000 now.
Who would be dumb enough to believe that crap?

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

Well of course he’s right – he’s always right.

knitfroggy's avatar

Who the hell could find Rush Limbaugh “entertaining”?

Austinlad's avatar

Entertainment? Not to growing numbers of people who lap up every sick and malicious word Limbaugh and the other crackpot ultracons scream at them from radios and TV sets and the Internet. To them this steady stream of anti-everything is gospel, and I say heaven help us all that he and the other crackpot ultracons have such massively far-reaching influence.

amazingme's avatar

Oh Rush Limbaugh…I love it when you don’t make any sense…

jrpowell's avatar

The only positive thing Rush does is make The Daily Show fantastic.

That and giving underage prostitutes in Costa Rico and the makers of pills money. The world will be a better place when the piece of shit dies.

tranquilsea's avatar

@johnpowell I agree that he makes The Daily Show funny.

I think when he dies there’ll somebody else to take his place.

janbb's avatar

Oy vey iz mir.

ETpro's avatar

Thanks everyone. @Cruiser I know you are right because a group of talking unicorns told me that’s exactly how it is. @tinyfaery & @johnpowell GA!

BoBo1946's avatar

The “Pillsbury Dough Boy” has never said anything worth listening too!

Jabe73's avatar

The showman has struck again.

perspicacious's avatar

I’m not sure about Obama’s motives, but I don’t think it has anything to do with slavery. I could be wrong. Pay no attention to Rush.

Cruiser's avatar

@ETpro DANG!! They promised they could keep quiet!! Money not well spent!

ragingloli's avatar

The economy already tanked way before Obama took office. Then Obama saved it. Was saving the economy a reward for slavery? That guy is a lowlife demagogue, but without the skill of Goebbels.

Jabe73's avatar

@ragingloli Yes for a change I agree with you.

Strauss's avatar

I’m still waiting for him to keep his promise to move to Costa Rica.

Dr_Lawrence's avatar

What proportion of your his audience will be believe this? Estimates anyone?

jerv's avatar

@Dr_Lawrence Considering the number of people who honestly believe that Fox News is totally fair and balanced, I would say, “enough to make you cry”. Put another way, most of the people who listen to Rush either take him seriously or write for The Daily Show.

I think Rush Limbaugh got the brain size of an australopithecus afarensis and I thought they went extinct, but ho, ho, ho, here’s a lonely survivor. A miracle! This will keep researchers busy for years.

Ron_C's avatar

Has Limbaugh ever been right? If so, I think it is a very small list.

About this question, of course not.

mattbrowne's avatar

We should not give this intellectual dwarf a platform for debate of his garbage. It’s best to ignore it.

If people want to understand the onset of the financial and economic crisis and understand Obama’s positive role in it even before he became President, I recommend the book “On the Brink” by Hank Paulson who served under George W. Bush.

BoBo1946's avatar

’‘put Rush’s brain in a hummingbird, it would fly backwards and suck George Bush’s ass for a morning-glory!”

tinyfaery's avatar

@mattbrowne That’s the meanest thing you have ever said. I approve.

janbb's avatar

I’m @tinyfaery and I approve this message?

mattbrowne's avatar

@tinyfaery – I know and it’s usually not my style. But hate mongers like Rush Limbaugh need to be stopped. Right-wing guys like him really are a threat to free societies. Although I’m a moderate liberal I really appreciate a lot of Republicans. They’ve got some really good people. I might not agree with everything they say, but I do respect their opinions and some do challenge my assumptions. We need different opinions and views. It’s what fuels pluralistic societies.
