Can someone help me generating a specific logrythmic scale?

Asked by ETpro (34605points) July 27th, 2010

I have to fill in a survey rating 10 items. I can assign any number from 1 to 100 to an item, and want to rate 10 items with some number for each. But my assigned weighting for how important each of the 10 items are must add up to 100. I can easily decide which is most important to least important on a scale of 1 to 10, but how do I then increment each of those assigned ratings so the 10 ratings total exactly 100? Help! It’s been way too long since I used such math. Ratings have to be in whole numbers, but I can figure out how to round up and down to get there if someone can calculate the proper logarithmic scale as a starting point.

If the ratings are r1, r2,...,rn then convert each ri to ri*100/(r1+r2+...+rn)
