Kidz Bop...

Asked by boxer3 (4150points) August 14th, 2010

I’ve always wondered if anybody actually purchases the Kidz Bop Cd’s where a bunch of young people, children to teen -age, sing numerous popular songs over the original beat.

I mean, I imagine sombody has to be buying it because they’re on like….. the 15th disc or something, but seriously.

I don’t know if the song is more appealing to kids when its sung by kids, but I personally don’t see how, haha…

thoughts?

I suppose this has nothing to do with the Cyndi Lauper song…

I’ve been watching those stupid ads since I was a little kid, and I’ve never actually seen one of those discs.

And I shop at thrift stores and yard sales all the time (Just recently found a cassette of Skid Row’s “Slave to the Grind” with the deleted song on it!).

Maybe it’s all a hoax. ^_^

@filmfann, Im pretty sure Kidz Bop creator loves Cyndi

and @Seek_Kolinahr, come to think of it, I’ve never actually ever seen one of those
discs either, and I also frequent thrift shops and yard sales, go figure.

maybe it is a hoax, with any luck haha

and great find on the cassette, there was a time when I found Fugazi, Bjork, Meatloaf, and the Notorious BIG on cassette all at one goodwill. haha, I was pretty excited about it.

My six year old daughter was very happy to receive some of these cd’s in her Happy Meal a few months ago. She likes to sing along with her friends when they are over. but then, she’ll sing along to anything.

@jonsblond , real life!!? Oh man, I didn’t realize they gave these out in happy meals!
I guess at least I know they’re actually in circulation, and at least
somebody enjoys it :]

I’ve seen them at Wal-Mart or Target (forget where we got them) and my daughter had a couple when she was younger. Now that she’s reached the ripe old age of 11, she finds them terribly annoying and prefers music sung by the original artists. Thank goodness, because I found the Kidz Bop songs terribly annoying as well.

I have seen them heard them and bought a couple for my bestfriends little sister. I so hope she grows out of it. It annoys me that some of the music, they totally rewrite the words, just so the storyline, isn’t “R” rated. I believe they should leave it alone.

I find it so annoying that they feel the need to have a bunch of kids sing badly on a CD to every good song there is. Our math teacher used to play them in class sometimes when I was in sixth grade. The singing isn’t even that good, and some of the songs they sing (a lot of them) they have to edit out/change words. It’s horrible.

I can’t believe they’re about to put out their 18th CD.

My son has one of them. He only wanted it because it had a Green Day song on it. He has a CD player in his room, so he listens to it in there every now and then.
