Is this normal to feel this way in 90 degree heat?

Asked by Mom2BDec2010 (2669points) August 22nd, 2010

Ok so today I was inside my house all fine and dandy, then decided to go outside(I live in Alabama so it was probably 90 something degrees) and I was only out there for like 2–3 minutes when all of a sudden I got extremely dizzy, I lost my hearing for a second, couldn’t think straight, couldn’t breathe so well, and my whole body just felt weak. It’s never happened to me before. Is this normal? Could it be because I’m pregnant? Has this ever happened to any of you?

90 is hot but those reactions do seem extreme. You should ask a doc about that, really

It could be a drop in your blood pressure or blood sugar or your body reacting to the heat. Since you are pregnant, you definitely should give your OB a call and discuss it with them.

Some kind of heat stress, but shouldn’t have happened that quickly. You should see your doctor about this.

I would probably relate it to pregnancy.

I had blackouts that began like that from about 5 months on. The first one was a full-on collapse in the post office. Very dramatic. Very not fun.

My midwife suggested several possible causes – anemia, blood pressure, blood sugar, the baby compressing a blood vessel… to attack from all angles, I was told to do my best to avoid dehydration (not enough water means not enough blood), up my iron intake (like I wasn’t nauseous enough… thanks.) and make sure to eat small snacks all day long.

I still had a few more fainting spells, but never that full on pass-out again.
