Do you believe in things working out simply because you were at the right place at the right time?

Asked by ZEPHYRA (21750points) August 29th, 2010

Is there any truth in being at the right place at the right time? Is it a question of correct timing or is there something else behind successful moves?

Yes absolutely but there are other forces at play as well but they IMO are a much more complicated set of forces and not all that simple to define.

@Cruiser that is just what I was thinking. I guess we will never fully define them. Is it a question of the universe owing that person something good? Complicated!!!!

Nope it was destiny.

@ZEPHYRA I think that is a big part of it…I call that Karma but again it is IMO all predefined and it is just a matter of your own perspective in accepting and acknowledging all that there is in your life that got you to where you are today and the things that occur in your life.

Yes. Meeting my beloved Meghan was pure kismet. I was wallowing in depression and resisted the volunteer work, only agreeing to do it after Mother nagged me into it. If I hadn’t, Meg and I would never have met.

I think that things sometimes happen when we are at the right place in the right time, but it is a coincidence.

It’s just the Gods of Random Chance messing with your head.

Everything is probability, and there is no destiny or fate. Either you are in the right place at the right time by coincidence, or you have made an effort to put yourself in that position.

@stranger_in_a_strange_land AHHHH, that is so sweet

Yes, just this week, I hurt my back and I wondered how I would get my luggage down from a third floor walk up at 6 AM. I walked out the door, and the neighbor across the way came out of his apartment and carried my luggage down. What a great way to start out a trip half way around the world!
