Eat less calories than your body burns.

South Beach Diet. I stand by it, it’s all about good carbs, un-processed foods, etc. It’s actually making you healthier, not just skinnier. In my opinion.

Try a 1500 calorie a day diet. You should be able to find one on the net and at least get out and walk a few miles everyday and you will lose.Good luck!:)

I liked this quote from Kelly Osbourne in People magazine:
“There is no such thing as a diet, because the minute you stop you just gain it back again. I don’t eat the same way I used to. The secret is there is no damn secret. Eat healthy, work out, that’s it.”
She credits her 18 month long weight loss journey to half hour of cardio a day, eliminating carbonated drinks, portion control and smarter food choices.

Fewer calories + exercise = weight loss.

“Perfect diet” is some kind of taboo as far as I can tell. It’s best to just try for a better diet, and not worry about being perfect.

@thekoukoureport beat me to it. (except is should “fewer” calories not “less” calories. Sorry @thekoukoureport I know it was rude to correct you but the fewer/less thing is one of my real pet peeves. Please forgive:-) Eat less, do more.

I went on vacation, ate very well and lost 10 to 12 pounds. Only thing I did differently was swam 800 to 1200 meters a day for eight days. Burn more calories than you take in.

Lower your complex carbs (white breads, rice, pasta and starchy veggies) and those you do eat, get from unprocessed sources such as vegetables. Eliminate obvious junk foods. Burn more calories than you consume. Do aerobic exercise, but also include some weight training or you will lose muscle along with the fat. This should be a lifetime change though, not a quick fix. You should also bear in mind that the more gradually you lose weight, the more likely you are to keep it off. Overdoing it on exercise if you have been sedentary for a long time can also result in injuries. I’m not a fan of “quick weight loss” but these recommendations can help you slim down and increase your fitness.

Lastly, bear in mind that muscle weighs more than fat, so you may lose clothing sizes and inches when you exercise long before you lose any pounds. Do NOT become a slave to the scale because it is misleading. Judge your progress by how you feel and how your clothes fit.

Diet comes from Latin, and it describes a way of living. The perfect diet would need to be a life long plan for better health, including exercise and eating healthy, always, not just to lose a few pounds.

The only real weight loss diet that exists, is to consume fewer calories then your body demands in a single day. The ones that let you eat “however much you want of this, but none of that” don’t work, because they don’t address how weight loss occurs. You need to create a 3500 calorie deficit to lose a pound. That’s the only way. So to lose weight I’d say eat between 1200 and 1500 calories per day until you reach your target weight. The healthier the foods are that you choose the easier it will be to stay on the diet and meet your goals because they are more filling and actually provide the necessary nutrients for your body. If you’re going to do this, I also recommend getting on a daily vitamin, because you will likely not be consuming enough nutrients in a day.

Exercise is your friend cause it burns more calories, thus increasing the amount the body needs, and making your deficit number higher (or okay allowing wiggle room cause that is important too :P).

Good luck!

@Austinlad is right but when I was on fen-phen I lost so much weight I LOVED it. I gained it all back but the point is I looked so slender for so long I’m glad I took it!

Vitamin water zero.
I switched to this beverage instead of anything sugary and lost 5 pounds in about a month.
Woo!

@diavolobella – Complex carbs are the good ones. What you listed – white rice, white bread, etc. – are simple carbs. Otherwise, good advice. It’s what worked for me 70 pounds ago. I just have to get back to it!

@tedbear. You are absolutely right. I was in a rush while answering and got my wires crossed. Doh!

Each person has a different body type and therefore each person needs a different diet. I do not believe in mass and commercial diets. However I lost weight just by eating slowly, I take more time to chew my food and I ended up eating less after all. Give this a try and then get into deeper diet methods.
