What's one thing in your wardrobe that perhaps you should get rid of?

Asked by ucme (50047points) September 26th, 2010

Anything in there that has overstayed it’s welcome as it were? Something that no longer fits or is rarely if ever worn. Maybe you hang on to it for old times sake. An item that you feel should have either been given away or thrown out by now. Assuming of course that such an item even exists. Anyone so much as hints at a dead body in their wardrobe shall incur a forfeit….... nasty look :¬)

I should probably get rid of half my clothes because they are about two sizes too big

My blue jean jacket from high school. I just can’t part with it. So many good times, good memories with that jacket.

My hiking boots and other specialty footwear don’t mesh well with the wheelchair…..time to go through the closet and make a donation…..ought to make a nice early Christmas gift to someone needing some footwear.
See ya…...Gary/wtf

Everything that doesn’t fit me anymore. But then I wouldn’t have much of a wardrobe. :(

My girlfriend wants me to throw my twenty five year old purple kashmir dessin shirt similar to this, only slightly less shiny.
I wonder why?

I have a few skirts that are just a few inches tooooo short… Haven’t worn them in years (nor will I ever now – I’m no mutton dressed as lamb!) but still, can I actually throw them away?...... Nope!

(Actually, I’m no mutton full stop!!)

My wedding dress, really.

Old, worn out hospital scrubs that have a hole in the crotch. They’re comfortable and breezy. :) I’m holding onto them.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

Oh, yeah, what @mama_cakes said, too. For some reason I always hang on to scrubs that really have had a little too much wear.

@mama_cakes “Worn out scrubs…...hole in the crotch!! Why, i’m strangely aroused at that mental image :¬)

I have a blue jacket that is… maybe two or three sizes to big for me, but it’s great on rainy days when I don’t want to wear anything heavy. It has ridiculous blue skulls on it though. It should probably go but it’s comfy.

I also have pyjama bottoms with Curious George on them. I haven’t the heart to get rid of them.

Too late. The past year has been spent giving away two walk-in closets full of old clothes to a women’s charity. The hardest thing to part with was a very expensive pale pink number that would have been ideal for my wedding dress. Sadly, it was attacked by moths at some point. The easiest was the zoot suit from the mid-80s.

I’m still coming to terms with the spongebob under crackers. Hmmm, I wonder if they’ll go well with my bikini bottoms?

Pied_Pfeffer's avatar

@muppetish Should the time come to retire Curious George, you might find a suitable replacement on this site.

My ball gowns.

ucme's avatar

@hawaii_jake You couldn’t Fedex them right over to me, now could you? :¬)

My 10 year old bathing suit almost fell off me during our anniversary trip a couple of weeks ago. I tend to wear things until they simply cannot be worn anymore.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

A dress I used to really like, still fits well but haven’t worn in about 3 years.

A brown leisure suit that is really outdated. clothes of the 70s need to go. my wife is hoping that leisure suits will again be popular and that i will have one ready to go. i think she has forgotten that i weighed 175 pounds back then. today, i weigh 235 pounds. it will never fit me again.

Shoes that don’t fit

iphigeneia's avatar

My jeans. I buy them because I always see them in those ‘Wardrobe Essentials’ magazine articles, then wear them about five times in a year.

partyparty's avatar

I still have a few mini dresses which I really do need to get rid of.
I keep them for sentimental reasons.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

I still have that shirt .

ucme's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille I didn’t realise I ask this many wardrobe questions, I swear i’m not from Narnia.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@ucme – I find them interesting and I find them.

ucme's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille Yeah but check that out, my answer got 2 GA’s & i’m assuming you were one…who the hell gave the other one? I mean, this question is 9yrs old & 3 of us just rocked up!!

Who are you?
I gots to know!

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@ucme -I am unable to point you as it is right now but if it was pointed recently, you know it had to be me and my memory is failing, even within a hour of resurrecting this Q.
If that is true then I am strangely unconcerned with my failing memory. WOT?!

ucme's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille The other person better reveal themselves or else the intrigue will make my teeth itch :D

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@ucme – I am really questioning my sanity. XD

ucme's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille Hey don’t…why fight it? :D

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille -It might give me more excuses for procrastinating.
