Do you know any words you would spell differently but would pronounce the same?

For example seize and seas.

Do you know any others?

Any word imported from France that ends in -ioux or an -oux
It should be Sue not Sioux or rue not roux (for cooking Cajun gumbo – love it!).
What’s up with that “X” anyway? If you don’t pronounce it, don’t use it.

grate, great
I use to get grateful wrong all the time. I wasn’t till I realize it comes from gratitude that I understood.
I thought grate was meaning the object grate or to shred something.
Great as in wonderful made more sense to me. So greatful seemed right.

A fly and a flea were caught in a flue.
Said the fly, “Let us flee!”
Said the flea, “Let us fly!”
So together they flew through a flaw in the flue.
Elementary school writing exercise.

Strait – Straight
Rite – Right

@Nullo You’re quoting a classic limerick that goes, “A flea and a fly in a flue / Were imprisoned, so what could they do? / Said the… / Said the… / So they flew through a flaw in the flue.” Gotta get the meter right…
