Do you think your view of the value of your work is similar to the value others place on your work?

Asked by wundayatta (58722points) December 22nd, 2010

Do you think your work is more valuable and others don’t appreciate it? Do you think others value your work more than you do? Do you suspect one or another, but aren’t sure?

Here’s your chance to explain how misunderstood you are!

Well, being a police officer for 44 years, i am not quite sure how to answer your question. there are a lot of variables possible in this situation. see what i mean?

It soon won’t matter what I think of my work.

I work at home for myself, and I value myself, and would like to think I am appreciated for 90% of the time.

GA Party..I’m more concerned with my own opinion of myself and my accomplishments than that of other people.

Only my direct supervisor and those I serve see the value of my work in the same way I do – all others that I work with undermine my work and can’t possibly understand (nor do they try to) how much I actually do.

Yes, but…I don’t care what others think, I know I do a good job at the things I do and if their perceptions disagree, that’s their problem. lol

No one thinks they value themselves less than others value them?

Yes and No.

Yes, when push comes to shove then I feel my bosses have my back and know I work to make their jobs smoother.

No, I’m sure most of our customers and most of my fellow coworkers see my job as a “disposable” and one they don’t need to have much respect for.

I think my supervisors and co-workers appreciate my work to a high degree. At least one aspect of it. Besides my regular duties as a military policeman, I’m the CSA (Client Support Administrator) for my squadron which is the person who troubleshoots and fixes various computer problems with all the workstations in our building. I know they’re very happy when they have working computers and if they didn’t, a lot less would get accomplished during the duty day.

No, others think “Make do is good enough” or “Close enough for Government work”, but my motto is “If is isn’t done right, is isn’t done – period”.

In my last 16 months with SBC/AT&T, I did a lot of recreational internet surfing, but my boss still thought that I was doing a great job.

What little work I did had value, but perhaps my boss put more value on my approach of working smarter than harder, than I did.
