Zsa Zsa Gabor is still alive isn’t she? Taylor wasn’t the last, but there are not many left any more.

Zsa Zsa Gabor was never a great classic actress.

I’d have to say no, not as long as we still have Julie Harris, Judi Dench, Joan Plowright, and some good number of others. But their ranks have taken a palpable hit this day.

Lauren Bacall is still around,right?

@Jeruba Zsa Zsa may not be on a par with Taylor and Hepburn, but she still would put most of the current crop of wannabe stars to shame if she was in her prime.

What about Merryl Streep? She is not one of the drop dead gorgeous ones, she is simply a good actress who has had roles in so many different movies. A lot of actors simply play themselves over and over (Jennifer Anniston) and don’t grow.

But yes, no doubt there was only one Liz Taylor and her marriage record has to be one of the biggest!

Elizabeth was such a beautiful classy lady. All our “greats” are passing ..it’s sad. I detest being stuck with flavour of the week celebrities.
I believe we still have amazing actors/actresses and always will. But, sadly, the number of “real talent” artists are decreasing rapidly.

@WestRiverrat I agree with you completely Darling. Also, Elizabeth Taylor was one of my favorite actresses in some of my favorite movies. She wasn’t the last of the greats. But actresses of her caliber are few and far between.

Of course, we have great actors but all of them are from different generation!
Elizabeth Taylor was the last star of the old-time Hollywood – the Hollywood of genuine class, glitter, glamour, and beauty. She was a real MOVIE STAR.
