Is it a beautiful day or what? (Or does a little adversity make you appreciate the good stuff a little more?)

Asked by Adirondackwannabe (36713points) August 29th, 2011

We had a rough weekend, but today the sun is shining, the sky is blue, and the water is receeding. I can’t say I want to see another hurricane or tropical storm, but it does make me enjoy the nice days more. How are you doing today?

You are spot on, Mountain Man. I feel the same way. I feel pretty good today, I’m clean, shaved and ready for another day of work.

I’m going to venture out today to see what was happening in the rest of my town, I’m sure Zuppy will be thrilled to have a real romp, and I’m getting a little stir crazy! I’m glad your water is receding, @Adirondackwannabe , I wish for you drying out!

Happy to hear the waters are receding! I don’t even need adversity to know I live amid abundant beauty. It’s a glorious day in the neighborhood.

That’s the beautiful thing about crisis. They sho’ do make us enjoy the wonderful ordinary, everydays!!! the grind is much less boring.

Yes…As beautiful as it used to be…! Let us spread the beauty of this world to everyone! I shall scatter petals of happiness for the beginning of this everlasting day! (((Spin 3 times))).

It is a beautiful day. I would like my electricity back, however.

Not a cloud in the sky and that sure goes a long way towards taking the sting out of the crap that gets handed to you each day. I seriously hate Mondays.

Glad to hear things are OK out your way @Adirondackwannabe.

Everything is gorgeous in Tennessee. I am sorry to hear of the damages caused by the hurricane and I hope your damages are minimal.

Situations like this, make you really appreciate what you have and take for granted.

Enjoy the sunshine my friend, it helps to heal the wounds.

It never got very bad here (not worse than your average heavy rainstorm, really) but it sure is nice to see the sun today.

And yes, adversity absolutely makes me more appreciative. I remember waking up smiling to my alarm clock for school right after going through my first bout of sickness. Damn, a normal, uneventful day of school is such a beautiful thing.

John, I am feeling absolutely fantastic, thanks for asking. :)

It’s an especially beautiful day! The sun is out and for the first time since I moved to this house I just sat on my fence looking out at my front yard, the grass, the trees, all of it, just happy to be here and happy too that no damage was done. Not a shingle missing…a few tree branches maybe. And the air smells fresh and clean in a way it only does right after a big storm! Anyone else know what I’m talking about?

All we had was some rain and pretty hard winds, but I don’t even know if those were related to Irene, although Eastern Canada did receive warnings about it. It was nice today.

I prefer overcast and chilly days, but not a fan of massive doomsday storms of complete death. Too much Summer makes me appreciate Autumn, yea.
