Relative to the "anti-you" question, have you also found your doppelgänger?

Asked by gailcalled (54644points) December 21st, 2011

Or your “almost-doppelganger”? I have a Baker’s dozen here.

See this.

@gailcalled I am sure that Milo meant to say ” Please remind Gail not to try to prise my jaws open…” Does this mean I am more your doppelganger than he is?

gailcalled's avatar

@dappled leaves: Milo here; Feel free to rag on Gail. She always deserves it. But tread cautiously when you criticize me. So, yes. I am primus inter pares. You and she have fun together.

From dictionary.com

prize:(also prise )

verb

another term for pry: prizing open the door… he prized his left leg free.

Simone De Beauvoir is my soul mate :P

gailcalled's avatar

@Blackberry: Lovely, but there is a subtle difference. One is your twin, the other your inamorata.

Blackberry's avatar

@gailcalled Hmmmm, I always thought FutureMemory and I were kind of similar. I like Qingu as well, but he’s more like who I am in my head. Haha.

gailcalled's avatar

@Blackberry: Re; Quingu? LIke you want to be?

What are we talking about???

Coloma's avatar

I like anyone that is friendly, well mannered, humorous and reasonable.
I’ve learned to beware of the very few that bear poison fruit after taking a bite of their bad apples a few times.

I seem to be in some sort of fairy tale analogy space this morning, must be the cold medicine. lol

Blackberry's avatar

@gailcalled Not entirely, as I don’t even know him, but I like how knowledgeable, informative, and witty he is.

augustlan's avatar

There are several people here that I almost always agree with. Almost always.

gailcalled's avatar

@Coloma:
We’re not talking about whom you like or dislike.

Berserker's avatar

I can think of three people specifically that I feel are a lot like me, and that we always agree on things. All three are great friends though, so I may be slightly biased. One’s gone, one barely ever posts, and the other is active. But they all were here at one point or another. I think they’d agree with me that it counts. :D

@gailcalled

I thought my contribution tied in, if not, please disregard.

Doppelgänger: an apparition or double of a living person:

@gailcalled

Okay..I was still relating to the sister Q you posted I guess.
Sooo, yes, I’d say there are a couple that parrot my sentiments on a regular basis. Does this answer pass muster?

gailcalled's avatar

Which sister question?

Muster, schmuster, it does answer the question as asked.

Paradox25's avatar

Not on here, but there were a very few on other Q & A sites but it is indeed a rare occurence.

SavoirFaire's avatar

I don’t think so, and I hope not. Disagreement leads to discovery when properly handled. It is a wonderful thing, and I find it sad that so many people shy away from debate as if it were the sign of some sort of disease. The clash of ideas is the sound of freedom.

gailcalled's avatar

@SavoirFaire: Could I make the case that by the very act of a mode of inquiry that I am comfortable with, you fit the category?

JilltheTooth's avatar

Yes, but she’s been very ill and is hardly ever here. We were amazed at how posts we would write were almost identical, and there was stuff about real life that we found was also almost identical. It was comforting, bizarre, and almost disturbing.

SavoirFaire's avatar

@gailcalled Would that be enough to make us doppelgängers? It would make us similar, to be sure, but not necessarily the same. I know people who share my methods, yet not my madness.

Or are we having this argument precisely because we are doppelgängers?

gailcalled's avatar

Given these parlous times, let’s call the whole thing on. “Close enough” works for me.

SavoirFaire's avatar

We’ll just have to agree to disagree. ~

cookieman's avatar

I sure hope not, ‘cuz then I’d have to share the cookies.

ucme's avatar

No, a few “kindred spirits”.....kind of, but no goppeldanger.

rebbel's avatar

Yeah, “kindred spirits” for me too.

Bellatrix's avatar

Kindred spirits yes, doppelgänger no. I don’t think I would want one. I annoy myself without having a twin to annoy me too.

I don’t know how to get the umlauts above the a. Well there you go. Just take note of the spell checker and they appear. Ho hum!

@rebbel, I did think of an ‘anti-me’ though (at least on some things).

Kardamom's avatar

When I read @Earthgirl’s comments, I often feel like we were cut from the same piece of cloth, although she is much more eloquent and consise than me.

Another Jelly, with whom I felt very like minded is no longer here, unless he/she is here now under a new name.

Blueroses's avatar

There are a few who make me wonder if we are cyber-siblings and one who I am sure hatched from my same egg, but really… isn’t it more fun to find the commonalities in the ones who are mostly opposed?

chyna's avatar

Yes. There is one jelly who says things I am getting ready to say, but so much better than I could have stated the answer. I have told her this several times.

ratboy's avatar

@gailcalled, are you not my doppelgänger? Well almost—my cat’s name is “Olim.”

Dutchess_III's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate started out anti-me, but now we’re BDGFF!

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

I find many jellies agreeable, but, as a whole this group tends to be relatively like-minded. There are a couple of people that I seem to agree with more often than not, but I don’t really know of anyone where I can just expect them to say pretty much the same thing I’m thinking before I can get it typed out.

AnonymousWoman's avatar

There is a user on this site who I feel I click with quite well! It amazes me how much I seem to just get her and she seems to just get me! It feels nice not having to explain myself… and it feels nice not having difficulty understanding her at all!
