Would you knowingly hire an illegal alien?

Asked by Charles (4823points) December 29th, 2011

Everyone seems to be against illegal aliens but if hiring one for example to do some hard heavy work around your yard for a day saves you $100 or so (as opposed to paying more for a legal laborer) would you do it?

And here am I, thinking aliens didn’t exist.
But if there were, and they work as humans would, I would hire one.

Yes. I don’t label human beings ” illegal aliens.”

I have never had the need or opportunity to do this, but, if I could help someone in need over someone not in need, yes, I would, and I would pay them generously to show my appriciation for their hard work, which is my standard MO with all my “help.”

I buy oranges and strawberries from a mexican vendor in my community that sells his produce on the corner near the state park in my rural community. I don’t care what his legal status is, I like his fruit and I like to help others.

Providing I had my Hazmat suit on and my insurance is up to date, I would consider approaching one to contract some yard work.

I’d also add that anyone that is willing to exploit anyone for slave labor wages is exhibiting “alien” morality on a personal level.

Anyone that has such strong feelings about an illegal immigrant, yet has no issue with using them for their own selfish and miserly reasons is a hypocrite to the 10th power.
Can’t have your cake and eat it too! Bah!

I have no problem with hiring someone who has immigrated illegally. I do have problems with deliberately paying them less than others simply because they committed an illegal act.

I’m against immigration control laws, so no problem with that for me. As for saving money, if I do it will be via avoiding taxation, the worker gets what the work is worth. Come to think of it, I probably would not ask or even suspect that they don’t have work permission, I’d be more likely to be skeptical of their ability to do the job properly than worry about where they are from or how they got here.

Sure. It’s been my experience that they work harder than regular aliens.

I would hire him/her and pay him/her the same rate I’d pay a “legal alien”.
