Why would one wearing a micro mini and wearing it commando would not be comfortable to some women?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) January 1st, 2015

In another thread someone alluded that a micro mini was not comfortable. With as many women as I have seen wearing them, as well as Youtube and other media where users can upload, there seem to be enough women who believe they are comfortable, or comfortable to wear in public. Some of them, (maybe many) wear them commando. Logically if would be the closest thing to being nude below and still be legal. If someone can be comfortable on a nude beach I would think she would be even better in a micro mini commando. Isn’t it almost like the best of worlds, feeling free but not being seen or exposed? If they were so uncomfortable why they are still manufacturing them and women are still buying them?

I have never heard of any one wearing a micro mini commando. Pretty stupid thing to do IMO, unless you want some stranger trying to stick his fingers in your vagina. But if a woman is comfortable with that, have at it.

Micro minis are uncomfortable, to me anyway, because they are usually tight and restrict your walking stride and other movement. I don’t like restricting things, period.

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

Yet you squeeze into a bra daily…..what a juxtaposition. <giggle giggle>

JLeslie's avatar

Micro mini commando is ridiculous. Like you said, you might as well be naked.

Mini skirts are uncomfortable in the sense that you are more restricted, having to worry about the skirt riding up.

Dutchess_III's avatar

GTFU Only when I have to, @Hypocrisy_Central.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Agree with “ridiculous.”

Dutchess_III's avatar

Often women’s fashions, and what is considered “sexy” are uncomfortable. High heels, micro minis. It just depends on the situation you’re going into as to whether or not you are willing to put up with the discomfort for a while.

elbanditoroso's avatar

@JLeslie wrote “you might as well be naked”.

That’s probably true, because I would imagine that (if they could and they wouldn’t be arrested) these women might very well choose to be naked on the bottom and possibly on the top. The only reason they don’t go bottomless is because it’s going to get them into the slammer.

I think that the real trick is that only a small number of women could do justice to a micro-mini in the first place. Others just are not appropriate to the fashion.

I’ve read the question 3 times over & it still makes zero fucking sense :D

I’m not comfortable with my vag uncovered in public and I hate skirts. That’s why micro mini commando would be uncomfortable to me. I’m an active outdoorsy kind of girl. I like to hike in jeans or shorts because I don’t want sticks and tree branches poking at my vagina.

livelaughlove21's avatar

I don’t know where you live, because I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anyone wearing a “micro mini” in public, outside of a strip club. If you google “micro mini skirt,” it appears that you’d have to go to an adult store where you’d buy sexy lingerie in order to buy one. I’ve seen girls in regular mini skirts, and I’ve worn mini skirts, but never commando (seriously?) and not because they’re comfortable. They’re not. I wear short shorts/dresses/skirts because I think they look good and they make me feel good about myself. I work hard on my body and I have a right to show it off a little bit. It’s not to attract sexual attention, impress anyone, or to be comfy. I wear it for same reason I wear heels or tight jeans – because they look good. Call it vain, but if comfort was paramount, we’d all go to work/parties/dates/bars in baggy sweats and tennis shoes. Some do, but many of us like feeling as if we look good from time to time.

I’m not sure why it matters why anyone chooses to wear a particular article of clothing.

Dutchess_III's avatar

GA @livelaughlove21. I have a “mini” skirt that I bought at my ex-boyfriend’s request. It’s a dress, actually, black, very simple, and it comes about 5 inches above the knee (my bf was disappointed that it wasn’t shorter and didn’t reveal more. So KMA boyfriend.) I only wore it a few times, to go to a jazz bar in Wichita with him. Boy, I rocked that dress! Every table went still and silent when we walked past.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@Hypocrisy_Central Would you be comfortable wearing a micro mini commando?

JLeslie's avatar

I like the mini fashion when women have the body for it. My thing is only one part of the body can be extreme or you look trashy. Meaning, mini skirt and plunging neckline is too much. One or the other.

jonsblond's avatar

Dressing up in tight clothes and heels does not make me feel better about myself. If I’m dressed this way it’s because I’m required to. Dressing this way makes me grumpy because I find it uncomcortable. I don’t need certain clothes to help me feel better about myself. I’ve learned over the years that I am in the minority. This is one of the reasons why I have a hard time clicking with other girls. I’d rather wear my hoodie and be comfortable.

I thank my lucky stars that I don’t work in an office. ugh

dxs's avatar

So how do you know they wear them commando?
Different strokes for different folks I guess. I, for one, feel pretty damn fee when I’m strutting my post-shower towel skirt. (But I’ve never gone out in public with it.)

Dutchess_III's avatar

^^ Good question, @dxs.

Still waiting on an answer asking @Hypocrisy_Central if HE would be comfortable in such clothing, in such a manner.

Mariah's avatar

I mean….it might be physiologically comfortable but it’s not psychologically comfortable to feel that moving in the slightest wrong way could result in accidentally exposing yourself to random people.

elbanditoroso's avatar

@Mariah – to you perhaps it is uncomfortable. There are, I imagine, a lot of women who would enjoy exposing themselves to others for the reaction it creates.

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

@ucme I’ve read the question 3 times over & it still makes zero fucking sense :D
Like new math, maybe it takes some people 6 cracks at it to understand it. :-D

@livelaughlove21 *[…it appears that you’d have to go to an adult store where you’d buy sexy lingerie in order to buy one.
Specialty clothing boutiques, ebay, online, garage sales, you would be surprised where you can find them.

I’ve seen girls in regular mini skirts, and I’ve worn mini skirts, but never commando (seriously?) and not because they’re comfortable. They’re not.
I am sure there are those who wear slacks and such not because they are comfortable but because they want to be more modest, even if they would never admit that out loud.

I work hard on my body and I have a right to show it off a little bit.
OH NO YOU CAN’T! This is the US, the metabolically challenge (and dare I say lazy) will feel as if you are rubbing it in their face, they want to look like you but want to do so without any sweat. If you look sexier or more man-eye-friendly than them, you are in some way diminishing them. ~~

@Dutchess_III Would you be comfortable wearing a micro mini commando?
I can’t say, like many things I find ridiculous and unnecessary as far as living the life of a woman, since I was never groomed to like or accept it, I can’t say. I don’t believe I would at this point, I would not be comfortable in a regular dress because I was not groomed to expect to wear a dress throughout life, same as squeezing into a bra when I had nothing to support, or don’t need to, slapping war paint on every day, wearing weaves, extensions, and wigs, etc. That is not to mention, might be physically impossible to do legally because I have too much equipment that might hang in view.

@jonsblond Dressing up in tight clothes and heels does not make me feel better about myself.
Better to do that then what some women do to feel better about themselves.

ucme's avatar

I would wear a micro mini with the boys hamging outta the barracks, but alas, my swinging member forbids such pursuits, still…never mind eh?

dxs's avatar

*free

jonsblond's avatar

@Hypocrisy_Central Better to do that then what some women do to feel better about themselves.

What do some women do to feel better about themselves? Are you saying there are only two options to choose for a person to feel better about themselves?

Dutchess_III's avatar

I’m glad you asked that. Waiting for the Woman Expert to let us know what we do to feel better about ourselves.

Mariah's avatar

@elbanditoroso Okay, yes. The question asked why it might not be comfortable for some women, not all of them. Certainly some of us are not big fans of exposing ourselves to random people.

jonsblond's avatar

@Dutchess_III My guess is we have the choice to go commando in a micro mini or wear dirty sweatpants while our chicken flap arms are flapping. ;)

Dutchess_III's avatar

LOL! Those are my only options? And I never knew about them? Wow.

livelaughlove21's avatar

Or we could just wear pajama pants to the store. Sorry, I just couldn’t resist…

Dutchess_III's avatar

Wearing pyjamas to the store is OK, but not if you use food stamps!

livelaughlove21's avatar

Ohhh yeah, I forgot.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

Like others, I’ve never personally seen women wearing micro-minis while going commando. However, as a coincidence and prior to this question, my daughters mentioned they’ve seen women at clubs wearing short skirts and no underwear.

If you really can’t understand how it might be uncomfortable, can I suggest a trip to the local secondhand clothing store to pick up a mini skirt that fits you, then slip it on, drop the jocks and go about your business. By the end of a very short period of time, I’m sure you’ll have the answer to your question.

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

@jonsblond What do some women do to feel better about themselves?
It was not an either or, it encompasses many things. Some women fight and claw in the business world to have what they believe is equal statue and pay as a man, some try to have a higher IQ then a man, chasing douche bag men that make them feel desirable, being the best baker in the neighborhood, having the most behaved children, the spotless house, convincing themselves they are as sexy as a bikini model at 230lb or more, self-medicating, etc. there are many things not just actually getting off the couch and into the gym.

Dutchess_III's avatar

And men don’t do any of those things to feed their ego?

Dutchess_III's avatar

I think that in order to see it, and in order to jump to the conclusion that a “lot” of women wear micro minis while going commando, you’d have to go looking for it on the internet Because it just isn’t true. Not in the real world.

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

^ I think that in order to see it, and in order to jump to the conclusion that a “lot” of women wear micro minis while going commando, you’d have to go looking for it on the internet
Who said “a lot”? I never did, I suspect there are far more in sweat paints in the market, I guess in some parts of the country you see it more, just as in certain parts you would see more people in bib coveralls.

Dutchess_III's avatar

You said, ”…Some of them, (maybe many) wear them commando.” So you used the word “many” rather than “a lot,” but it means the same thing.

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

Perhaps many more than I ever seen or knew do, that is why I said “maybe many”, I cam not sure the ratio compared to the rest of female population just as I don’t know who actually dare to leave home with out all the war p[ain on as to those who would have to be dolled up just to take the trash cans to the curb.

Dutchess_III's avatar

But why would a woman even DO that? It’s not like she could get sex without it! She could be wearing sweat pants and a sweat shirt and get sex!

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

^ Fashion, want to be a nudist but can’t legally where she lives, cooler, unrestricted by underwear, a cleaner feeling, one can take their pick, it doesn’t always come down to sex. Why do so many women shave down there? Is that about sex because they don’t want a man to get apprehensive about catching hair in his teeth?

Dutchess_III's avatar

No, they shave because men like that prepubescent look.

livelaughlove21's avatar

^ Uh, no…

I suppose we shave our legs and armpits to look like prepubescents as well, eh?

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

@Dutchess_III No, they shave because men like that prepubescent look.
Who is in charge of the razor? I am sure if women wanted men to get on the more mature bushy look they can, they will just stop shaving and maybe just trim it.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Probably. What other reason would there be for shaving off perfectly good hair?

Dutchess_III's avatar

No @Hypocrisy_Central We’ve been too programmed to think it’s gross to just leave it.

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

@Dutchess_III We’ve been too programmed to think it’s gross to just leave it.
Maybe the same programming that got women to believe wearing a mini or micro mini commando (or even in a thong for that matter) is nasty, hoochie, some woman looking for sex, and cannot be comfortable to wear in any way shape, or fashion.

Dutchess_III's avatar

We’ve been programmed the opposite way. Lots of pressure to wear stuff like that because men like it.

livelaughlove21's avatar

@Dutchess_III “Probably. What other reason would there be for shaving off perfectly good hair?”

Same reason we teach our kids to say “please.” Social norms tell us it’s normal. Because people have been doing it for a long time. Because we’re now programmed to prefer it that way, for the most part.

Shall we assume you are au naturale all over, or is your guy secretly a pedophile just like the rest of them?~

Dutchess_III's avatar

That was an odd final comment.

But think about it. Why were we pressured to shave in the first place?

JLeslie's avatar

Now I’m wondering why some parents get upset or don’t allow their daughters to shave their legs until a certain age. I’m going to start a Q about it.

livelaughlove21's avatar

@Dutchess_III There was nothing odd about it. You said that women shave because men like for us to look like prepubescent girls. I asked if the same holds true for shaving other body parts and you said “probably.” If men want us to look like little girls, as you say, would that not make them pedophiles? Hence, my question. Of course, it was rhetorical.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

I shave because I don’t want pubes hanging out of my undies or swimmers. My husband couldn’t give a rats whether I do or I don’t. I actually think he thinks it’s a ridiculous thing to do.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I shaved my bikini line if there were hairs sticking out, but never the whole girl.

The question here IS WHY did it even become a thang?

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

@Dutchess_III That was an odd final comment.
I find it no weirder than your comment injecting pedophilia into the conversation. Especially in light of what @livelaughlove21 pointed out about women shaving other without the tinge of pedophilia coming into play. Unlike some people here in the Collective, when you said ”No, they shave because men like that prepubescent look.” I was able to reason you meant some men and not ALL MEN, as some would have gotten tripped up on. Nevertheless, that maybe true with some men, the whole deflowering a virgin fantasy thing, but it is not all men. There are men I know who like a lot of hair down there so they can run their fingers through it.

@Earthbound_Misfit I shave because I don’t want pubes hanging out of my undies or swimmers.
Women could band together and demand garment makers put more material down there.

JLeslie's avatar

I just want to say that I don’t think most women wear pants for modesty reasons. Most very modest women are very conservative also and wear long skirts.

Pants are great because it doesn’t matter if I shaved, if I need to bend down, I can sit down with my legs up, it doesn’t matter if I don’t have a tan, pants are warmer than skirts, and I can easily wear flat shoes if I want to.

This is why it was a big deal when it became more acceptable for women to wear trousers. It’s freeing in many ways. I didn’t even mention riding bicycles, horses, and basically doing any physical activity.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Gosh, I remember the first time I wore pants to school. 5th grade. Green bell bottoms that my mom had made for me. Finally, an end to boys trying to look up my dress.

JLeslie's avatar

Interesting. I do remember getting teased about my underwear, because boys had seen it at school when I was very little. They said they saw my flowered underwear. After that I didn’t want to wear flowers on my underwear. I remember my mom saying something about them being cute, but I think she bought me some playing new ones.

I’m pretty sure I wore shorts under skirts for a while.

What I don’t remember is a day I wore pants for the first time to school. I don’t think it was mandatory girls wore skirts. I have pictures of me very young in shorts and pants.

Dutchess_III's avatar

It wasn’t mandatory, it was just the social expectation.
