They’re fucked up, so most likely immune.

GQ @ragingloli. Since a vampire is already dead, should one contract HIV, it won’t kill it. Is it possible that a vampire might be affected from the typical symptoms? This is just a wild guess, but I’d say no, although it’s possible. Even vampires have their weaknesses.

Could a vampire pass HIV on to another victim? Absolutely, but only if it doesn’t swish and spit between conquests.

Well would it also get an STD? That would suck.

Vampires are immortal, therefore, they may very well contract HIV or other diseases, but they most certainly never will expire from them. Vampires do pass their diseases onto their victims, but the same holds true, (you won’t die from said diseases) since you become a vampire once you are blood-sucked by one.

@februaryviolet Do vampires have to pee? It would suck if you’re immortal and it hurts to pee each time.

februaryviolet's avatar

Yes, they urinate. However, they lack properly functioning nerve endings throughout their bodies, so they do not really feel any burning.

@februaryviolet Laughs, you almost as sick as I am. So they won’t know to go to the doctor. I have another story for you too if you answer this.

I doubt it. Since they’re already dead, it wouldn’t kill them and the person they bit would become a vampire so it wouldn’t matter to them either.

@februaryviolet You’re brave. Mu uncle had a friend that would go out drinking and taking anything he could find home with him. Then when it hurt to pee he’d come see my uncle and he’d give him a shot of Combiotic which was an animal antibiotic in the butt. With the needle we used for the cows.

WOW! That is just….wow…LOL. My great uncle used to go home drunk from the bar or playing poker with his friends, and he’s settle down on the couch with some crackers and “canned meat” come to find out next day when his wife tried to feed their cat, there was no canned catfood left. This happened several times!

@februaryviolet Yeah, I grew up in a redneck family. I got beyond it, but I have the memories. I went to a good college. It opened my eyes. Although I recall serving Little Friskies at a party.

No, they are drinking the stuff so it is not mixing with their blood and they are already dead so I don’t think their blood is even live. But heck, they are of imagination so whatever story writer can make them do anything.

In Stephen Kings Gunslinger series, vampires seem not to be affected by HIV but can pass it on and infect those they feed off of. This is stated/shown in either Wolves of Calla or Song of Susannah

No, but in the Simpsons Homer killed a vampire from Cloresteral poisoning.

Vampires are usually part of the living dead, which means…they’re dead. They’re immune to things like disease or harsh climate, unless these things come from a supernatural source, or rules which bind them. (the sun, for one)
Bu really, you can make wtv rules you want…but in order for it to remain a vampire, some things must be respected. To me, undeath is one. I’m picky with vampires though, and only really like the classical Dracula types.
