What's your "fix" for frozen pizza?

Asked by ibstubro (18804points) April 28th, 2016

What do you do to frozen pizza to make it more like take-out or homemade?

I like to put the pizza pan in the oven when I start it, then bake the frozen pizza on the pan. Softer and cleaner than baking directly on the rack.

I usually sprinkle with garlic powder, and maybe a touch of salt.

I always add some extra cheese. Sometimes other toppings, then the cheese.

I add a bit to the cook time, as I like the browned cheese edges.

Drizzle of Olive oil, extra mozzarella cheese and a little basil.

Step 1. Throw it in the trash.

Step 2. Grill some meat.

Really, you can do better than frozen pizza. Get a frozen pot pie if you want to cook a frozen dinner.

The olive oil is a good idea, @Tropical_Willie. I have added Italian seasoning blend with the added cheese.

Some frozen pizzas aren’t bad, @zenvelo. I always liked Red Baron 4 cheese. You just have to realize that it is a food separate from real pizza. You know, like biscuits and those fermented lumps of plaster that come stacked in cans.

I add cheese, garlic and usually veggies. Spinach, peppers, olives, whatever I have in the fridge.

I often buy cheese or Margherita pizza and add some mushrooms.

I like the Stouffers french bread pizzas, I add extra diced red bell peppers and mushrooms. They are quite tasty.

The oven is everything.

The Safeway Select rising crust pizzas are fantastic. I actually prefer them over “real” pizza.

I have a pizza stone I love. Pizza dressing and lemon pepper if I eat it at all. I make them for the kiddo, not me. Some of our brands aren’t too bad.

Not buying or cooking frozen pizza.

I throw it across the yard like a Frisbee for the dog to chase and then fire up the grill and cook a prime cut T-Bone steak.

What’s pizza dressing, @cazzie?

I have frozen pizza 1–2 times a year, and I enjoy it.

I hate to use the tired cliche…

“Pizza is a lot like sex. When it’s good, it’s really good. When it’s bad, it’s still pretty good.”

Totinos is still better than boiled carrots.

Add more cheese, pepperoni, ham; pineapple and ranch.
