Women Proposing?

Asked by Lexusgirl87 (30points) May 30th, 2018

With it being the 21st century, how do men and women alike feel about a woman proposing to a man? And should the woman buy a ring?

I don’t know what to think about the ring, the token. If I were married, I would wear my ring (if indeed that’s what I had) on a chain around my neck. (In my line of work, wearing a ring can be hazardous.)
But I see no problem with the woman proposing.

I think it’s fine. Hmm. Not sure about the ring…

Umm. I would bring it up in conversation I guess. Maybe he will get the hint, and ask you…

I believe in equality for the sexes, so why not? If my fiancé had proposed to me I would have said yes (and saved a lot of money on her ring). It would be weird having the guy wear the engagement ring though.

Either person can propose, female or male. As for the ring, go dutch, rules aren’t set in stone.

Edit:: Not rules, traditions, marriage practices are just traditions, and they are not set in stone.

Call me old fashion but the man should do the asking and the woman should do the deciding. Marriage is a very important and traditional event.

Back in the 80’s when I was in my 30’s and single, a woman asked me to marry her. It felt weird. I liked her a lot but I said we’ve only known each other for one month and to wait for 3 months before considering it. I soon found out that she was an alcoholic with very irratic and abusive behavior.

I think it is fine if that’s what they both want.

why not? who cares which one cracks the whip? Life is short. Put the inevitable show on road (of sorrows).

@gondwanalon You indeed jumped a shark!

What does the era have to do with it? I had a woman propose to me back in the 70s. I politely declined. Other wise no big deal, other than mild shock on my part.
