What is the best case of, "You just picked a fight with the wrong person," which you've ever witnessed?

Did you see the nasty, high school bully get destroyed by an intended victim? How about a boorish man getting fresh with a woman, who made him shut up and go away embarrassed?

Looking forward to your stories.

I don’t suppose grandchildren pretending to be tigers that are a LOT bigger than me counts….

Tara the cat rescues her human from an attacking dog.

However, I acknowledge that in most cases, dogs are one of our best friends. ;-)

A roommate way past let a street urchin steal some of my stuff. When I got home I was livid. Apparently he was bored. He brought her back with him. I demanded my stuff back. She put a knife in my face. It was tiny, looked like the keychain pocket knives found in those vending machines by the grocery exits. I laughed. My roommate laughed. He told her the military taught me how to kill, and she couldn’t possibly run fast enough. She was down the block before the door swung shut.
I dumped that roommate, after I made him replace my missing stuff. He was scared of me too.
I was small, but back then I was cut better than Rachel McClish. (This was during the height of her building career.)

I was not a fighter, but I was a very good fight finisher.

If anyone is feeling déjà vu, I have shared this story with fluther recently.

Was at a pig-picking one day…lots of people there. There was an outdoor bar set up. The guy behind the bar was not huge but was of impressive size. I was 6’ 200# and in good shape and I would not have wanted to tangle with this guy. Then up comes another guy who starts mouthing off to this guy. This mouthy guy was about 5’8” and weighed in about 150#. Turns out this mouthy guy had been fooling around with the bartenders girlfriend and broke up their relationship. Now he was mouthing off to the bartender. The bartender ignored him for a time, but eventually came across the bar at the little guy. It took all of 4 guys to hold him back from beating the little guy into a pulp. The little guy continued to mouth off because he knew the 4 guys were protecting him. I put a hand on his chest and pulled him back, looked down at him and said “Stop it”. He looked up at me, had worry in his eyes, and quieted right down. I told him he was an idiot to be worried about me when this other guy was bigger than me.

Jermaine Whitehead -former safety for the Cleveland Browns
Picked a fight on Sunday with just about everybody on Twitter, and lost his job and probably his whole career. You can’t fix stupid.

^He can’t seem to reign in his anger. All the money he just lost because he can’t shut up.

A friend of mine, who is now sadly dead, was in a bar drinking someone else’s beer (accidentally or on purpose, I don’t know, I wasn’t there, my kid brother told me this).
The guy who’s beer it was made a comment about it, like “hey, what are you doing with my beer, bro?”
Sil, who was drunk, immediately got unreasonably angry with the guy and challenged him to come outside and give him a beating.
The guy was a big biker, my friend was a kind of Joe Pesci figure but skinnier, and with a higher pitched voice even.
Luckily it didn’t come to a fight, bystanders prevented it.

I used to run around with a rough crowd about 15yrs ago. One friend, Chris, wasn’t scared of anything. Chris heard that his friend-a girl was hit and pushed by a guy that everyone was scared of. Chris confronted him outside a mall one night while I was with him. The other guy pulled a gun and pointed it at Chris. Chris walked up just like a movie and pressed the barrel into his own chest and dared him to pull the trigger. The other guy put his gun away and Chris knocked his teeth in. All the guys friends begged Chris to stop. Never heard from them again.

@Coolhandluke – You reminded me of someone who found out that his sister was hit by her boyfriend.
The following evening he showed up at the offender’s home and dragged him out & put him in his car trunk. He let him out the following day.
Needless to say,he never bothered his sister again.

You also reminded me of a time I stood up for somebody.
I was 17, couldn’t weigh 100 if I was dressed for polar expedition. I was at a friend’s house. She had a bunch of siblings, a meek mom, and a barrel chested dad.
Dad came into the living room. I don’t remember what, but something of his was missing. He immediately boomed at friend’s little scrawny 13 yr old brother. I knew the boy had just come home and didn’t have it. The whole family was frozen in fear. Dad made boy take off his belt. I jumped at him while his arm was upraised with the belt, and shouted NO!
Dad was so stunned he froze for a moment. I demanded he not hit the boy. Just then another brother came in. Dad told me if I didn’t want some I better leave. Second brother asked what’s up. I told him. Turns out he moved Dad’s whatever to do his homework. Belt came down easy and went back to kid.
Dad was still mad at me. He told me to go. I left with friend.
She told me i was effing nuts, and suggested we go find a fatty.
OK.
Boy was not beaten.Their mom had new respect for me after that.
I didn’t see dad much anymore.
Oh, and we did score a good fatty.
Good times.
