It is not against the rules to ask homework questions. In general, the community expects that homework questions will demonstrate that the asker has already done some independent work on the problem, and responses may be removed if they just give away the answer instead of prompting the asker to work it out. Requesting and providing help, however, are both allowed—and harassing users for asking for help is not.

Keep in mind that, at least in my opinion, some cave paintings were made by bored children.

Try looking at H.W.Janson’s History of Art which is a classic text on art history. Also, just go to your college library and ask a reference librarian for help. There certainly are connections between prehistoric art and modern abstract art.
