Alternative email provider?

Asked by binary (461points) December 23rd, 2008

I am trying to find a (free) email host that isn’t gmail/hotmail/etc. Preferably something with a small domain name.

I use gmail, but I had like a spam email account that I opened with yahoo, and I really liked their set up over there.

gmail for domains. That way you can still use your domain name. (or buy one if you don’t have one)

Fastmail.fm was ok. I switched to Gmail, and it is far superior.

This might be petty of me, but what I value most when it comes to email is the name. In my opinion I’d rather have a very short, easily remembered name rather than a long drawn out username. With Gmail, after spending literally an hour and a half trying to find a good username (less than 8 letters, one word, no numbers) I gave up.

I might be able to use Google Apps, but I don’t know if you can use the + sign in the email service.

I don’t care, you want a gmail account.

You NEED a gmail account.
